This museum centers on the lives of particularly farming people in Smaaland, but also the urban development of larger towns, and leads nicely into the overpopulation of the mid-1800´s and subsequent emigration to North America, which is the subject of the neighboring museum.

When I was there, "Loranga! Loranga!" was on view, and I had a chance to learn about a popular (VERY popular) children's literature character who runs around doing absolutely manic things wearing a bathrobe and his hair wrapped in a flowered towel (no, no -- there's no hint of what you're surely thinking).

One of the very best regional museums I have ever visited. Documenting the history of Småland from prehistoric times and onward. All of the information for the various displays is summarised in English and German. The only downside is that the lighting levels are kept low so it can be a bit difficult to see all the detail at times.

This is an excellent museum to explain the massive emigration from Sweden and especially Smaland to North American in the 19th century. Charts and maps highlight the displays.

This place was worth checking out. There were a number of different interesting displays. I thought the currency collection was superb and a must see for any coin collector.

This region of Sweden is famous for its glass works, mostly set up in the nineteenth century, and there is a comprehensive display of the history of glassware - elaborate cut and engraved, coloured, basic homeware, and studio glass. I disliked most of it, I have to confess - the more elaborate, the more skilful, the more I disliked it.... More

I have found it to be interesting. Kronobergs county is well known for hand made glass in Kosta which is a well known place and is just 50 km from Vaxjp town

A placed filled with detailed and interesting Swedish facts. A visit at this museum helps a visitor to this region understand the allure of Scandanavia. The museum is also well layer out. A history enthusiasts dream or for anyone wishing to learn.
