Used to live across the lake along Norr Malarstrand. It's one of the biggest lakes in Sweden, and offers a beautiful landscape view from every side of the lake. It's beautiful all year round - nice walks along the lake and outdoor activities (bbq, frisbee, football, picnic etc) at the nearby park. There is also a children's playground nearby and... More

I like to go here during every time of the year. It is Swedens biggest lake so you can spend as much time you like ! You can go by boat, steam boat, canoe a s o. The water is so clean that you can drink it as fresh water !

A unique and excellent exhibition where during the visit the history of the ship with his people comes alive. A must see in Stockholm!

We had taken the boat to and from the Drottningholmen. The journey was beautiful and the views excellent. In fact the ride itself is far better that the palace which we visited. But the 2 way journey was well worth it.

Lake Malaren is a vast lake in pristine condition. Every imaginable water based activity is available here. Best is the the availabilty of long slow boat trips. (fast boat trips are available too). Worst is the presence of mosquitoes in summertime; make sure you bring something to repel them!

We took a boat ride on Lake Malarian going to Drottningholm Palace (home to the Swedish Royal family). Approximately one hour boat ride each way. The scenery was lovely and we enjoyed looking at homes and some businesses that were along the shoreline. It was a lovely few hours & I recommend a boat ride on Lake Malaren.

We opted for a day in Mariefred; travelling there by train from Stockholm Centralstation to Laggesta, from where a short bus journey will deposit you in this delightful place. The town (more like an overgrown village really) has a wealth of appealing wooden houses; a properly dominant church; a restored narrow-gauge steam railway; plenty of eating and drinking spots, plus... I stayed on a boat hotel on Lake Malaren. From the boat I could see the City Hall and Slussen. I was staying at Riddarholm which is the east end of Lake Malaren. Its a large and beautiful lake and worth a visit.

Visit and enjoy the beauty that is Lake Malaren. Near the historical part of Stockholm, take time out to relax and enjoy the views or take a boat trip. You will be impressed especially on a clear day.
