Great place to explore and museums

I went there twice for the museum and also walk around with friends. The atmosphere was very nice especially in the Summer

We stayed at the Hotel Skeppsholmen, so we found ourselves on the island quite a bit. I have a feeling if we'd stayed elsewhere, though, we might not have visited. There were a few other sites on the island - the little Kastellet (which I walked around - quaint); the Modern Art Museum (didn't visit) and a few other things.... More

I had considered staying on Skeppsholmen, since everyone who reviewed the hotel here said the walk was insignificant. I found the location to be out of the way. It is a lovely island, but quite remote from the rest of the Stockholm and the Hop-on-hop-off boat is not be be counted on as they are few and far between. If... More

Why is this attraction ranked so high? We took a stroll in Skeppsholmen and found it incredibly boring and a waste of time. There was not much to do, except for a few small museums. Unless you're visiting the museums, don't bother coming here. The Kastellet is best viewed from the water with a boat tour.

Stroll right from the hop-on/off boat, or left from the bridge. Along the dock are 20+ 19th century and early 20th century boats, ranging up to about 60 feet / 20 meters. Many tugs, ice-breakers, ex-navy and general work-horse boats, all restored and operating. A few are for hire.

It is small but it has character. It was closed when I got there but i really enjoy the walk and the surroundings. I took a break from the city and sat down on the rocks and watched the boats. Then went back to Skeppsholmen brygga and took the Red Boat to Djugarden. do that to! it is a nice... More

The visit is really quiet, the view is beautiful. You can enjoy the city without all the cars and the noise !

Walk over the walk way or take the Djurgarden ferry from Gamla Stam that goes every 15 min or so but be sure to tell the staff when you board the ferry that you are going to Skeppsholmen. Follow the maps posted on the walkways and check out the modern museum. It is free and quite nice. Have lunch there,... More
