Yes, you came to hipster paradise. Soder is for real. Its authentic. Of course there are not only hipsters here, but they have surely added to the value of Soder. With cool shopping areas, great restaurants, happening bars. Stortorget is one area, another is Mariatorget and also of course Hornstull.

Sodermalm is finding a new identity and is developing into one of the cooler areas of Stockholm, but as a tourist there are other areas you might visit first.

I love this area of Stockholm. Full of culture, hippy bars, funcky cafes and shops.Loads of places to eat from burger bars to organic cafe places. More retro than the rest of Stockholm. Farmers markets and all sorts sold here

We quickly discovered that Sodermalm, particularly Hornsgatan street was the place for affordable restaurants with lots of variety. We came to the area every night we were in town to try a different restaurant and also have a nice walk afterward. very safe area.

My parents and I stayed in this part of town and it did not disappoint. There were great restaurants and all public transportation was within walking distance. It was quiet, but not very close to all the main attractions.

Sodermalm is a beautiful part of Stockholm that has a city feel with a forest vibe. Along the northern border, you can see breathtaking views of Old Town, City Hall, and the Canals. There are many delicious restaurants and trendy stores to go shopping; overall, its a great place to peruse around if you have time. Sodermalm is also home... More

Sodermalm has a mixture of things to see and do. Second hand shops, antiques and very new and trendy fashion items go all together in the same street. This mixture makes the whole district very trendy and fun to visit.

Staying in Slussen

Neighbourhood Profile
Slussen
A unique mix of grotesque 1960s concrete urban vision and cosy historical Swedish brick houses, Slussen has become one of Stockholm’s most architecturally edgy and controversial neighborhoods. Plans to rebuild the area have been on the agenda for decades, however, so far no agreement could be reached, which is the reason for the continuing decay of its brutalist substance. Nevertheless, the museums and the main shopping street, Götgatan, attract both locals and tourists with Sweden’s most fashion-forward clothing retailers, hipster coffee shops and restaurants. Once the lights are out, the area turns into a bustling nightlife haven, catering to all preferences, from posh hotel bars to sweaty underground nightclubs. There is no better place to experience the clash between old and new Sweden.
