A regional castle that was severely destroyed. Recent restoration has captured some of the atomosphere of the initial building. The exhibit of the history of the town and castle was easy to follow. I did not notice any exceptional artifacts.

Only when you're walking you can see this magnificent old castle. I felt sorry when I heard that it was ruined. The goverment must ensure it's restoration and preserve it! The jail was cool and lot of pictures and stones on / in the walls....More

Beautiful location and very accessible. Unfortunately only open on Sundays after the tourist season, but just walking around the area is interesting.

Visiting and enjoying the castle is a must when in Nyköping. The castle is an integral part of early Swedish history. The museum has so much to offer the visitor that it should be visited without rushing.

The free admission museum in the King's tower is excellent, and in summer the markets with appropriately clothed and behaving actors moving around is entertaining. Definitely recommended!

Very nice castle to visit, as well as the park around it. The castle has been recently renovated. Free admission.

The castle has been significantly restored, so needs a careful look to spot the old for the new. Worth visiting though as makes a focal point for a walk down the river. Free entry to castle & museum.

Just an ordinary castle. We went there simply because we had some to kill before our flight from Skavsta Airport.

If you are travelling in Sweden during the "low season", please check dates and times for museums and other historical locations. Enjoyed the history and the architecture of a castle that was built and remodeled over several generations. Walk the ramparts, stand on the foundations,...More

This old (16th century) castle ruin on the river is a wonderful place to stroll. Two great museums worth visiting. A really nice coffe area is open in the summer.
