Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Very interesting to learn more about the history in the county, from prehistoric to viking ages, to the city of Uppsala. It is free to visit, the exhibitions are well organised and it really changes your experience when visiting Uppsala.

On a September Wednesday, there were only 6 visitors in the museum, which is a pity as there is SO much to see. Special runestone exhibition going on which was incredibly informative. Our only complaint would be that although they had information booklets in English in each area, we both had trouble reading them as I am 71 with cataracts and my husband is 67 with similar eye problems so the print was too small. Still, I read enough Swedish so that we were able to really enjoy all of the material available.

We came here when visiting friends in Uppsala. It gives a good overview of the town's history, although not very much is in English. Worth a visit for an hour or so.

The museum is okay, but it could be better organized (some parts as for example the exhibition on Roma and their problems are not in English at all). The floor dedicated to knitting skills is interesting (you can even see Amundsen’s hat from the North Pole expedition).
The entrance is free.

Went to visit this museum as it was recommended and free entry. The first floor had a quaint little play area for children which was great on a rainy day. The actual museum area was a huge disappointment. Everything was explained only in swedish no attempt whatsoever to cater for tourists/foreigners. The displays were minimal and nothing really self explanatory. There was no clear trajectory through the displays and it really seemed like not much effort was put to set it up. No staff in the display areas.
There's a small cafe at the entrance with basic snacks. The staff wasn't proactive in welcoming visitors either.
Luckily there was no entry fee so nothing was lost by visiting this place. The area however was quite nice with a pond and beautiful trees. I recommend visiting the neighbourhood more than the museum it self

Very nice little museum with lots of nostalgic interiours full of every-day things you may remember from your childhood. Interesting Ingmar Bergman exhibits i.a. from his famous film Fanny & Alexander at the time of our visit. Industry history and old age artefacts also exhibited.

The location is great, at the spillway and small “rapids”. A charming stone bridge next to the edifice spans the river and there is a landing to sit and enjoy the sun, even on a brisk day, upstream on the opposite bank. You encounter all this before you enter and are informed there is no admission charge to this museum. Fascinating temporary exhibits are found on the first two levels. The top floor is a permanent, fascinating exhibit about the history of Uppsala. Don’t overlook the excellent English language brochures found at the beginning of every exhibit; all display signs are only in Swedish.

We where in general very positively surprised with the size and the quality of the exhibitions in this little museum.
They have a couple of set exhibitions with dioramas and a decent story line in them. They also have nice temporary exhibitions that changes over time which should encourage revisits.
We for its size I would think they have done very well and since it is also free entrance they are certainly worth a 5/5.

Very nice museum with rather small but very well made exhibits covering the history of Uppland county since the Ice age. Dioramas mixed with artefacts, fascinating models of meals through the ages, the industry history of Uppsala, interiours of shops etc. from mid 20th Century. Fun kids' corner. And free entrance!
