A must see when in Goteborg, especially to get A sense of the city and if you are interested in watching the tourists and locals hanging around deciding what to do next.

Here you can watch the people go by and if you look around can enjoy some very nice architecture. You feel the city is life.

I love this Square because of its few hidden gems, mostly the map of the old city of Gothenburg right beneath our feet. Near to the statue, if you look at the ground, you can see that in a large spot, different tiles were used....More

What can you say about a statue in a square? It commemorates the legend that the King pointed to this spot and said build the city here. He has an engaging smile.

It is great. You can get there by tram - get off at Brunnsparken. You can‘t miss it. Took a picture.

I love the big European squares, but this one felt oddly empty. The location is amazing, next to the river and near the harbour, but it lacks general atmosphere. The statue is quite nice, but overall it's a quick stop and move on

This statue stands tall in a large empty square. The buildings along the back of the square are being remodeled so the backdrop was ugly. The canal nearby is well worth waking along and a quick stop here is all that is needed.

Legend has it that King Gustav Adolf decided a city & port was needed on the west coast of Sweden, and he stood on one of the hilltops near Gothenburg and pointed down and said "here is where the city should be built"
