Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We rented two canoes from Oravi company. One for two and one for three. We went the Koloveden kierros which was about 30km long. We started and finished from Kirkkoranta. There was self-service pickup for canoes and kayaks. You have to reserve the canoes first and pay them online. The campsites during the route were excellent. I've been around Finland in different campsites but these were in top three. All of them have fireplace, tentplaces, outdoor WC (huussi) & woods. It is forbidden to camp anywhere else than campsites.

I canoed for around 4 hours and found a route through narrow openings to escape the national park into wild country where you can camp where you like. More freedom, more choice, just as beautiful and what i think all of this kind of experience is all about!! Wild camping, the unknown, light getting low buy you need to pitch your tent soon!! It’s all about adventure!!!

Nice park, within a big lake. The hiking options are very limited so this park is more for canoes. You can rent them on site at Kirkkoranta, contact SaimaaHoliday Oravi and Kolovesi tel. +358 44 274 7078. the park was made to protect the rare sweetwater seals but the chance to see them is very low as they are very shy. The best camp site in our opinion is on the south end at Käkövesi.

Kolovesi is difficult to get to without a car but when you get there you will be rewarded. It will be about 4h by car from Helsinki. With public transport you can get to Enonkoski but from there you wil have to take a taxi.

It's excellent if you are looking to do kayaking or canoeing and like being outdoors. Most of the part is quite sheltered so we did not encountered much in the way of the wind also motorboats are not allowed to majority of the park which helps with the silence but also makes kayaking very enjoyable as there are no wakes to worry about.

The camp sites are well marked and well prepared without taking out the wild. they have fireplace and toilet as well as few decks for tents but those can be taken quickly. The park offers great views and at least two of the campistes have absolutely delightful spots for tents with fantastic views up on a hill overlooking the lake.

If it sounds you might like it... you will love it.

We have been to Kolovesi two times in June 2013 and July 2014. The weather was wonderful. We took canoes and paddled a lot. The water was very clean and we drank it right from the center of a lake. The whole park is equipped with fire places, spots for a tent and toilets. I highly recommend this park for families or group of friends :)
