Siida is a central meeting place in Inari, the heart of the Sami Area in Finland. It is a window on Sami culture and the diverse nature of Northern Lapland. At Siida, you can acquaint yourself with changing exhibitions on culture, art and nature throughout the year.

Siida offers the visitor both exciting experiences that appeal to many senses and expert knowledge. In the summer season, the indoor exhibitions of Siida are complemented by the cozy open-air museum. In addition to exhibitions, events that focus on culture and nature, as well as seminars, are arranged at Siida.

At Siida, the National Museum of the Finnish Sami and the Nature Centre of Metsahallitus work together. The pleasant restaurant Sarrit serves customers on the second floor of Siida.

Siida is a very nice museum that tells visitors the Sami, an indigeneous people in the Finnish Lapland as well as the seasonal cycle of arctic nature. You can easily spend an hour or two to go through many displays of artifacts, tools, attires and the general way of living of these people in the severe arctic weather. There is... More

You can drop by this museum when you on the way to Northern part of Finland. The museum shown how the older days of the people in Lapland survive during the extreme cold weather and the daily activities in this country .

I visited the Siida Museum on the 25/10/16 and discovered a well presented, very informative display of the indigenious Sami people. Photos by Jorma Lutha were exceptional and I was able to buy two of his books in English. Those books reflected my experience of Lapland. There is a small restuarant and a good selection of gifts to choose from.... More

This is one of the best Museums I have been to anywhere in the world. Engaging informative, interesting. The mix of video, inside and outside displays makes this such a cool place.

The Sami Museum was engaging and informative. There are indoor and outdoor exhibits. They do an excellent job of explaining how these hardy people can survive the far north. We spent several hours and had lunch.

Have just spent 3 1/2 hrs here, went out for lunch ( restaurant closed for renovations) all day ticket ,then returned for Northern Lights film and outdoor museum Excellent presentations, came away with an understanding of Sami history, culture, people,lifestyle( current and past) Wonderful photographic overview of seasons,climate , animals and birds, give yourself time to enjoy this great cultural... In Inari , then go here and have enough time set aside to take it all in The outdoor exhibits are widely set in a large area and need time to be seen Worth the effort and well labelled in several languages The staff are superb , helpful and great for tips about where to go and what to do... More
