We travelled across the frozen river several times by snow mobile and what great fun it was. All part of a fab holiday.

We went on a fishing trip on the lake with Markku and about 12 other tourists. Had a fun day, driving with a snow mobile to the old church next to the lake. Tried to catch fish in blazing snow and rain and, although no-one...More

If you're looking for a beautiful and peaceful destination for kayaking/boating/fishing in Lapland look no further. There are over 3000 islands in this huge lake and most of them are totally uninhabited. There are many free well equipped camping areas to choose from. You can...More

The lake is awesome for seeing the aurora, there's some very nice spots. Our recommendation: check out the lake by day, find a couple of nice spots to see the aurora (away from the street lights for instance) and then you know where to go...More

We were with a tour group and traveled on one side of this lake by bus. It is huge! We took more than an hour to pass it. And the views were beautiful. Lots of islands in the lake.

Saw the lake during summer and the water was not frozen. The rocks and glacial erratic with occasional small islets in the river are magnificent views. Remind me of the very famous picture of Lake Maligne in Canada except here there are erratic glacial rocks.

Lake Inari is so tranquil and peaceful if you find the right place....It was awesome watching the rain roll over the lake followed by the rainbow...I was disppointed in myself for not charging my camera.

Hello, Is it possible to self-tour Lake Inari either by foot or some other method (driving the outskirts) in order to visit both the Wilderness Church and Ukko's Rock? Or is the only way to visit these sites by taking a snowmobile tour? If the latter is accurate, are there any recommendations for tour guides? Thanks, Laura

I'm sorry but we only went across it on snowmobile. We saw others on the lake but all had snowmobiles. Its a huge lake so not sure how else you would get to the church. We were only there for 4 days and had activities every... More
