Even with lack of snow, it was magical for the kids. Especially at night when it’s all lit up.
Would highly recommend the meet and greet with the husky’s, and the husky ride. We pre booked but you can pay on the day.
Snowman world was closed till the 6th December, there is a temp snow slide but not worth the €10 they charge per child thigh. Snowman world looks great .
Snow mobiles for the children was €25 for 10 minutes. We had a long wait time of over an hour in -12 (even when we prebooked) majority of the kids came off crying for how cold there hands got. Would recommend going first thing to avoid ques and there is a height restriction of 145cm or under (even though it goes upto age 12) younger kids will enjoy it more as they don’t go too fast.
There was lack of snow, but the kids made their own fun in what snow there was and ice patches for sliding down on the paths.
It is very commercialised but as it’s free entry to go in, it’s worth the visit.

I spent 4 days at Santa Claus Village and had a very nice time, but there are some downsides.
The park itself looks magical at night, truly a wonderful place to stay for Xmas lovers. I enjoyed the cold evening strolls around the park in the lights.
During the day they have fires lit so that you can sit around them and relax.
Our Cabin had a sauna in the bathroom which I loved, it also had all the essentials, coffee machine, fridge, cutlery, kettle and teas etc. The downsides to the room are that the shower isn’t very warm at all and the TV is against the wall above the bed, so you don’t really have a place to sit and watch it, slightly confusing placement.
Breakfast was included, a buffet of meats, cereal, pastries, porridge and more. Juices and coffee are included. We particularly didn’t really like the food offerings and only chose to have this on 1 occasion.
The restaurants are rather expensive, a beer will set you back €11, annoyingly we did set out to have dinner in the main restaurant but it was closed on the night we chose with no mention of being closed that day. So we went for the Chinese restaurant on site that was an absolute disaster, avoid that place.
The ESSO garage over the road is a life saver, it is 24 hours, the food is cheap and honestly very very good! We had pizzas cooked fresh and for a fraction of the price that was on the complex, they also sell alcohol, so I took those back to our cabin. They stop serving alcohol at 9pm though. I might have to do a separate review for the garage itself I was that impressed.
Now the downside.. As a day tripper, this place is great.. Huskies, reindeers and Santa to visit ( €40 for a picture). We booked the duo visit of the animals and this cost us €100 which wasn’t bad. But now as someone who is staying for a few days or overnight, everywhere closes very very early. There isn’t like a bar you can sit at, or any entertainment. So once 7pm or so comes around, there really isn’t anything to do which really is a let down. Please open a late night bar or something, have a room to relax in and play some music or something. This really was a let down, so we found ourselves in our cabin with a esso pizza and a beer most nights.
All in all the site is really nice to look at and we had a good time, just be wary if you are spending a few days here, the evenings can be boring and a taxi to the city will set you back €35 either way.

Santa Claus Village is a popular destination with numerous shopping opportunities and activities. We enjoyed exploring the shops and took a reindeer ride. Unfortunately, due to technical issues, we couldn't meet Mrs. Claus and had to request a refund, which an elf processed reluctantly. A live camera allows friends and family to watch as you cross into the Arctic Circle. However, the food was subpar and overpriced.
While the visit was worthwhile, be aware that the village is highly commercialized and expensive. Additionally, two elves were rude; one even scolded my daughter - at length - for not wearing her hood while we waited to buy reindeer ride tickets, which was unnecessary. To avoid crowds, arrive early, as activities fill up quickly throughout the day.

We've just returned from a two day stay, we stayed in two of the cottages and they have been fantastic to stay in, we would highly recommend them. We stayed in and around SCV for our activities and found this very suitable for our children 7 & 5, if they got tired we had the option to return to the cottage a short distance away. We had breakfast included and there was a great selection each morning and kept us full till lunchtime. All staff very friendly in SCV and found the reception staff very helpful, we had a late flight 10pm, and had to checkout at 9.00 am that morning as we were going on a trip, we had enquired about a late checkout but unfortunately they were fully booked, but reception accommodated us with holding our luggage throughout the day and we had access to them through the day to change etc. We had dinner in The Three Elves Restaurant and it was lovely, some of our party did try the chicken and risotto and didn't like it but that was only a personal preference, they have burgers and chips, they were very nice and filling. I would book a longer stay next time, we only had two days as when we were booking our airline were only offering two day turnaround. While it is an expensive place, it was very enjoyable and main thing was our kids were extremely happy.

This was a once in a lifetime trip for our family and it did not disappoint... granted we are from south Texas, where Christmas is hot and sweaty 99% of the time! We stayed in the adjacent Glass Resort, which was excellent, and we participated in snowmobiling, dog and reindeer sledding, crafting with Mrs. Claus and we got to see the big man twice!!! We got to spend our American Thanksgiving feeding moss to Finnish Reindeer and it was EVERYTHING!!! All of the activities were within walking distance from the resort. We had one extra day and decided to visit the winter zoo in Ranaa, which was cool because we don't get to see winter animals very often. We even got to pet the sweetest moose on earth!
We went the last week of their "off season" so there were one or two attractions that were still being built, but I don't feel like we missed out on anything and ended up saving money with off season pricing.
The village itself was really neat and had TONS of Christmas shopping, keepsakes and food and drinks available. The props and sets leading to Santa offered prime picture spots and Santa himself was as real as it gets!
As far as the weather is concerned, it was around -14 while we were there and that's a cold I've never felt before, so AMPLE layering is crucial. If you stay in the Glass Resort, you have a private sauna and hot tub that make for a nice warm up at the end of the day. In late November, the sun doesn't rise until around 10am(ish) and sets at around 3pm(ish), so there's not a lot of day light to work with. Keep that in mind when scheduling any excursions. It also snowed everyday right after sunset, which was awesome!
Late November is NOT a good time for Northern Lights in Rovaniemi. We were told by a local that Feb-April is far more promising.

It's hard to complain as entry is free, ample parking, meet Santa for free, play park etc. However, I do believe that since Lapland has become increasingly more popular and accessible, the whole place has become overly commercialised. The Christmas magic has been sucked away unfortunately.
Meeting Santa is free but be prepared to wait for at least 1 hour to then spend 30 seconds with him before being ushered out to spend €50 for the photo. We understand that it's busy and the need to keep moving but the children were so disappointed with the one thing they were looking forward to the most.
Over priced food, drinks and souvenirs, be aware of people who try to push into the long queues Infront of you. A distinct lack of toilets, the only one available you must walk through the incredibly overpriced shopping mall to get to. Barely any seating around the village.
By far the best experience is the Husky meet and greet and the husky sledding. 100% worth the money you won't be disappointed.
Bring back the magic

I state that I have long passed the age when you believe in Santa Claus and we were 4 adults and a 4-year-old girl.
I really enjoyed it. The Christmas atmosphere was breathable despite there was no snow, especially after dark (just wait for 3pm)
There are plenty of bars for snack breaks, restaurants and plenty to do.
The village is free to enter, you pay only what you want to pay for (even meeting Santa Claus is free, if you want the photo instead is paid, but no one will force you to buy it)
The advice is to take a look at the site and see first what services there are and at what prices, avoiding being disappointed that a business asks for money in exchange for services
We met Santa Claus (very kind, he also told us a few phrases in Italian, it was very sweet) and visited the reindeer farm where you can feed the animals and comb the goats and honestly we had so much fun.
Shops sell mostly superfluous things at high prices, if you want a souvenir of the day you can send yourself a postcard from the Arctic Circle (stamps sell them in the shop under Santa's office, the letterboxes are always there)

BEWARE!! There are 2 different Santa’s at Santa village.
The one is based in Santas office and the other in the building on the left as you exit reception.
The one in the Santa’s office is a bit more authentic but both are ok. However children might be confused if you see both as there are differences between them.
The food and drink in the restaurants is ridiculous expensive.
A draft beer is 9 euro with a burger costing 28 euros.
We stayed in the classic cottages but again beware as there are a few different companies offering accommodation on this site.
Our cottage included a sauna and the room itself was lovely and warm with everything you needed including a small kitchen with a microwave, hob and fridge.
Wi-Fi was good and free.
We went in Oct and had snow on the one day which made it look even prettier.
Taxis are also very expensive which the 3km - 8 min ride from the airport 35 euro.
The number 8 bus stops outside Santa’s village which goes into the city and airport which was approx 8 euro for 2 adults and 1 child.
There is a shell service station opposite which has a small shop but does not sell alcohol after 9 pm finish law. They also do food 24 / h.
Overall magical for children but very very expensive.

In short- if you have children and an unlimited budget; sure.
It is magical- in it's own little way. I certainly didn't stay here but it's obvious that many families chose to. There are so many (so, so many) activities for children in the Winter which would be magical. There are several spots to 'see Santa'- which mind you- prepare for a minimum of 30 Euro for one picture, no phones guys.
The highlight was the reindeer ride (which was another 30 odd euro) around the local forest which was an instagramer's (not me) dream.
Santa Claus Village is one of the key sites in Rovaniemi and easily accessible by the local shuttle bus.
Make a budget and stick to it as it is EASY to sail pass it.

We had been planning this visit for over a year and watching the webcam so knew what to expect. We visited a few days before Xmas and there was heavy driving snow most of the few hours we were there. Whilst the crowds were huge they were well managed. We went straight to the queue to see Santa Claus and it went well. About 40 minutes in the queue and I gladly paid for the presents for our three plus the photos/video. Queuing area was atmospheric and ok. He engaged with my children and adults for about 30 seconds. Do those complaining on TA honestly expect no queues and that presents and photos will be free? highlights for us were the post office, the cafe near the info desk (looked like a cafeteria but the hot chocolates and honey cinnamon cappuccino were superb). Even though we had to queue for 20 minutes the loft cafe was great considering the pizza/burger restaurant had queues out the door . Kids also liked the playground. Ran out of time to do reindeer rides as queue too long. Overall a great day to the extent we stayed here for the full day rather than visiting Rovaniemi.

Ciao a tutti.

Grazie a chi mi risponderà

I stayed in Rovaniemi so I don't have any experience with staying at the Santa Claus Village. I liked the city as most tours start there and it's a very small town so you can easily walk around (bearing the temperature in mind though). You can also access all stores, the mall, all restaurants etc. Being at the Santa Claus Village, you'd have to take a bus to get to town and costs money (I think 8 Euros round trip). I don't know how cheap/expensive it is to stay in the Village but I had a nice and cheap AirBnB in Rovaniemi and was very happy with that.

Hi, we are visiting Santa Claus Village in a couple of weeks.
Do we need to book to visit Santa?
Written 7 December 2023
No you just line up. We were there early so pretty much walked straight in. I understand cues can be long. Enjoy your trip 😀
Written 10 December 2023
Hi, going to Rovaniemi on 8th November do I need to pre book to see santa at SCV?
Written 25 May 2023
No, you will not need a reservation. We were staying in Santa Claus Holiday Village and noticed that it was very busy during the day. So trying to visit Santa Claus might take a long time in the cue then. It was a lot easier to visit him relatively early in the morning or in the early evening after 6 p.m. No cue then at all and Santa had a lot of time to talk to us then.

I have a silly question. On the "Santa Claus Village - Arctic Circle Webcam" in the center of village I see many people pulling kids on a plastic sled. I want to know if those are sold or rent nearby, and if so, can anybody tell me the price? I have planned a 4 days trip to he village (hotel there too), and I don't plan to go Rovaniemi city center (unless anybody tell me it really worth doing so for one day).

There are some which are left by the coach / car parks which you can use for free. Just make sure you leave them there afterwards for the next boy / girl. Whatever you do DONT TAKE ANY FROM OUTSIDE A SHOP / RESTAURANT OR TIED UP AS THEY DEFINITELY BELONG TO SOMEONE.
