Amedeo Modigliani's art was a delight to see at Ateneum. Versatile collection of his art was presented, can highly recommend. Did not visit the permanent exhibition this time, as it is familiar to us (worth of seeing as well).

I have already been at Ateneum several times and never left it disappointed. The permanent exhibition provides a good insight into Finnish culture and traditions. However, the temporary exhibitions are the reason to visit Ateneum every time I'm in Helsinki. They are perfectly chosen, often showing Nordic artists (Tove Jansson, Helen Schjerfbeck, ...), but also a lot of others, such... More

We initially went to this museum to see the Modigliani exhibition which was superbly displayed and very informative and interesting. The best exhibition on this artist we have ever seen. The rest of the gallery is mainly devoted to a very wide selection of Finnish art and we really enjoyed this. The setting is very impressive as you access the... More

A good place to visit while in Helsinki for a couple for hours. The cloakroom and the lockers to deposit your coats and backpacks are free of charge. (Although the lockers needed a €1 euro coin to lock it, it will be return when u opened the locker) Admission fee is £15, which I feel is bit on the high... More

The museum has a great collection of art and special exhibits. I was there when there was an Alice Neel exhibit and that was great. The museum is not so large as to get lost. It is a good sized place so as not to get an overload. Collection is set up very succinctly and we'll planned.

It was nice to see Finnish paintings once again in the 2nd floor. Really good collection of them. I was not so convinced of Amedeo Modigliani but it was nice to see.

The Ateneum artmuseum is located right in the centre of Helsinki and it's a must visit for tourists. There's often interesting art exhibitions in Ateneum, both domestic and foreign. In addition there's a do-it-yourself-workroom, which is a very nice timepass for kids, and a cafeteria and a museumshop as well. Ateneum itself is one of the most beautiful buildings in... More

When entering the principal hall with iconic Finnish masterpieces the eye is first drawn to the bright displays at the right corner showing how different artists have intepreted the same motives. The slightly unfinished, one of the last Van Goghs is surrounded by landscapes painted by Paul Cezanne and Alfred William Finch. Ateneum purchased the artwork already in 1903 becoming... More
