I could have spent the day there
I only had time for a brief stroll through the Market Hall, which was just delightful. I found a very knowledgeable cheese merchant and bought some insanely cheap local cheese which was very tasting, and two beautiful brown rolls to eat them with. I was very sorry I had made dinner reservations for that evening because I could have satisfied all my needs (including sushi!) at the hall. A good collection of local Turku souvenirs as well, if you are into that sort of thing. A credit to the city.

    Good lunch options
This is quite smaller than simular markets in northern cities, but the quality of the food is very good. In particular I tried the Finnish HERKKUNUOTTA® that grills fish and prepares fresh salad in front of customers, along salmon soup…it was excellent and fast. Probably little more pricey than regular stalls, but well worthed every penny. In front of it I bought delicious pralines at Joy4Food. It was a very nice choice for a good lunch. If you drive there is a small and expensive parking at apx 3 euro an hour. They usually close at 6.00 pm, but on Sundays at 4.00 pm

    Really good food, nice athmosphere
We were looking for some traditional Finnish dishes and struggled to find them. Luckily we found some of them here, especially 2 fish stores stood out to us. Staff was very friendly explaining us what was what, prices were okay. Additionally you find a lot of international food booths there as well which as a tourist I found a bit less interesting. All in all, one of the better places to eat in Turku.

I bought a piece of salted salmon (uncooked fish) in this market and got poisoned hard. My whole body swelled up and it took me a month to recover. Be careful. Besides that, a nice market

Beautifully maintained old food hall filled with old local businesses selling too quality delicacies. The choices of meats, fish, spices, cakes etc. Is brilliant and there are great unique cafés and bistros.

I expected an old market but it’s more of a restaurant court. I did not feel that I was in Finland at all, the smells of mixed country kitchens, many different Asian, Italian and other restaurants have filled the tight old building with disturbing smells.

I have been to many old market halls, used to have a part smelling with fresh meats, a part smelling of fresh fish, a part smelling with fresh baked breads, cheese and cold cuts. And this hall was NOTHING like that.

It is an old beautiful building, I did enjoy architecture but other than that it was a huge disappointment.

Not really what we call a shopping mall as it was mostly food stalls. Neat to walk around and grap something quick. You’d walk right by it if you didn’t have it on your gps.

Gorgeous market hall with a good atmosphere. Different options for eating with lots of choice.
Food stalls with products not found in an ordinary supermarket. Fresh fish, meats, bread, cakes etc.
Good service with mostly very knowledgeable staff.
And right in the heart of town.

This historic market hall was opened in 1896 at Eerikinkatu near the marketplace.

It offers a unique atmosphere. All the roof and hallway structures are original.

You can currently find approximately 40 different merchants and restaurants.
