We started off with a bit of confusion at Akureyri, as Circle Air had transferred all its flights to a different carrier. Our travel vouchers were accepted and we and about 15 others got off on time. The flight over took us through some mountain passes as we were gaining altitude, and then we were watching for whales during our ~20 minutes over the ocean.
Our group of 5 was met by XXX, who had to borrow a small cab-over truck to have enough seats to accommodate our group size of 5. XXX was bubbly and cheerful, explaining what it was like to be raised on the island. Our first stop was at the fixture showing where the 66th parallel crossed the island and the obligatory photos to show that "we were there". XXX gave each of us a beautiful calligraphy "certificate" indicating we had crossed the Arctic Circle. When asked where she got such beautiful calligraphy done, she said "my Mom did it - you'll see here when you go back to the airport where she works". Our tour of the island included a small church, which has been there for centuries.

Phil and Nicky Onions here.
I booked a scenic tour for just myself and wife with Circleair last week on Sunday 23rd October 2022.
We had a fantastic experience thanks to Gisli, our pilot.
Looking down at Godafoss and Dettifoss waterfalls, Lake Myvatn, Krafla, rock formations and Geo Thermals at Dimmuborgir gave us a totally new perspective to the sights we were also to visit by car.
I can totally recommend Circleair for a fantastic flying experience and commentary from Gisli.

An absolutely fantastic experience. The weather cut our trip short but the pilot did everything in his power to make sure that we got as much enjoyment as possible. The plane was fantastic. The pilot was better than fantastic. The customer service was outstanding. I have gone on plenty of air tours. I will come back to the city to do this one again. Oh and the tour started at the aviation museum. Even if you don't take an air tour it is well worth a couple of dollars to go and see this air museum. It's something they're proud of and I can fully understand why.

We had a great trip to Grimsey Island on Circle Air. Captain Louie took great care of us. The 30 minute flight from Akueryri was full of information about the plane, the flight and local history. Once we landed on the island we were met by a Grimsey Island resident who served as our tour guide. We learned all about the island’s history and what it is like to live on an island with 25 other people. We visited the Arctic Circle and even have a certificate to prove it!! We were also treated to a plate of local cuisine (Puffin and Cod). Thank you Captain Louie and Circle Air for providing such a great experience.

Excellent experience, start to finish. Gisli worked with us on finding the best time to fly to Grimsey (it pays to be flexible with your schedule, given the quickly changing weather in Iceland). Flight, tour of the island and lunch were all perfect. Pristine views of the fjord. Highly recommend!

I took the Circle Air 9 seater plane out of Akureyri, IceLand on 8 July 2023. We had a total of 5 passengers including myself. The flight was beautiful and felt extremely safe . Once arriving to Grimsey Island we were greeted by a wonderful local woman. I have been in love with Puffins my entire life (60). The island is amazing . We were on the Island for 2 1/2 hours. I was solo and the 4 others were more interested in the Arctic Circle phot op then the puffins . Because of that , I felt that I was not allotted time enough to observe the puffins . On the website they inform us that we will be experiencing a taste of local cuisine. I wish that they informed us that it was going to be puffin! I understand that puffin is a delicacy in Iceland, but I would have appreciated a heads up that we would be eating one on a tour that is advertised as one for those who adore these creatures. I did tell our tour guide/ driver on the way to the island that I did not want to eat any puffin, yet I still had one on my plate. I kindly passed and did not let this hamper the rest of my amazing experience. I also did not make a big fuss in front of the other guests and I gave my plate to another traveler. The cod was delicious. Again, I just think the tour should clearly state that you will be offered a puffin to eat.

We were docked in this town for 2 days on a cruise. You could book a flight through the shipping company, but it was much too expensive. Just book directly with Circle Air, it will save you a lot of money.
What an experience this was. There were 3 of us and we had the plane to ourselves. The highly skilled pilot greeted us kindly in perfect English. During the flight he also explained about life in Iceland, about the whales, the history... Not only beautiful but also educational!
The landscapes you see are indescribable.
After landing we were received by the friendly owner who promptly called a taxi for us. Highly recommended if you are here. You see everything from a much better perspective than from land or ship! Books....

Excellent adventure! Small propeller plane, 3 hour tour, of the Icelandic highlands, geothermal area, fly over (or near, depending on wind), see Godafoss from above, and land in the highlands in front of a beautiful mountain. We booked in advance but a few days ahead of the date checked the weather and it was looking bad regarding high chance of rain, clouds, wind. We emailed and asked them if we could come a couple days before instead, when the weather was supposed to be better, and they were able to change our reservation and fit us in. SO glad we did because the weather could not have been more beautiful. The guy who answers the phones and manages the reservations was so helpful and gave us some other tips for things to see in the area and the pilot was nice and experienced. Definitely the best value (regarding cost for the length of air time) compared to helicopter tours I looked into and worth every single penny!

Iceland is a marvel no matter where you look but the Land of Fire and Ice is breathtaking to behold flying several thousand feet in the air.
If you're going to be flying the skies of Iceland, you need to be doing so with Circle Air. When you fly with Circle Air, it is a luxury, adventure, and fun all rolled in one. They aren't kidding when they say they'll elevate your Iceland experience.
What makes Circle Air miles above the rest is their true enthusiasm and passion in making sure you get a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
You'll be living large in their comfortable brand-new Airvans. You'll appreciate their leather seats, large windows, and quiet headsets. Their pilots are second to none and will fly a smooth path to all the must-see destinations. Circle Air's planes are ideal for filming or photographing and the smooth flying makes a steady platform for the professional photographer or film crew.
Additionally, the plane we flew in had a specific photo-window, to fit your camera lens outside without opening the door entirely!
We flew the Diamond Circle flight from Akureyri. Our pilot Ivar flew us through the striking landscape where they filmed Game of Thrones. He had all the insider facts and narrated while we soared over notable sights.
The route he took us on also explored Godafoss and then over Lake Mývatn. Driving around you just cannot take in the lake's true beauty. But from up high you'll be able to see this scenic attraction and the nearby geothermal phenomena which really stand out due to their turquoise blue color. From Lake Mývatn we flew over Vatnajökull National Park to see Dettifoss, a powerful spectacle of a waterfall with water crashing down from a height of 144 feet into a narrow canyon. Just an absolutely unforgettable and remarkable sight flying over this natural wonder.
From the Dettifoss waterfall we flew by the magnificent canyons, before turning back to Akureyri. The path back is your chance to soak in the north-east coastline and views in the west. Ivar even took us a bit further than the allotted 60-80 minute tour to fly by where the Icelandic youth snowboard at a mountain resort.
By the time you touch down on the tarmac, you'll likely have a camera and phone filled with epic photographs. The thing about Circle Air is they specialize in photoflights so they work with you to make sure you get every memorable shot. We talked to them on the phone prior to our flight and you could tell they have decades of experience in business and aviation. All that experience means you get the best Icelandic memories.
Overall, this experience was incredible in every way. One thing that stood out is all the nice details. If you're like me, you love Iceland's water for its pure, pristine taste. Circle Air provides Icelandic Glacial Water which is the popular bottled water shaped like a glacial mountain. This is just one of the many examples of Circle Air going above and beyond in making sure every little detail is accounted for.
Not to mention they do special missions and custom tailor-made tours for those adventure seekers that want to get the absolute most out of this unique opportunity. They simply want you to have the best time and will work with you each step of the way to make your dream come true.
We were absolutely blown away by our experience with Circle Air. It truly was a life changing experience and I'm still flying high thinking about our journey!

Great people to organize this expedition. Our captain Gardar Alfredsson put us safe on the ground at Grimsey Island and back to Akureyri. If we go to Island once more we'd choose Circle Air to organize another great flying trirp! Thanks Gardar, Louie and team!

When I booked with Circle Air from England corresponding by e-mail ( by the way the airport is about 5 mins from the port) the agreement was to turn up on the appointed day and agreed time and if safe to fly, we flew and paid at the end of the fantastic flight. I didn't even have to pay a deposit.
The flight and pilot were fantastic.

Good morning Circle Air,
we would like to make a reservation for a 1 1/2 hour flight on 8 august 2018. We are three persons (3 adults) and we would like to have the flight in the afternoon. Is it possible to just make a reservation now? And pay on arrival at the day of the flight?
Thank you very much and happy Christmas!
Best regards from Germany
