I was just in Iceland a few weeks ago and decided to fit in one more horseback riding experience just 2 days before heading back home. My husband and I, and another couple were staying in Akureyri and it was a no brainer to book with Polar Hestar after seeing the great reviews online, and realizing how close we would... More

I've never ride on a horse and today I'm totally elated! Initially I thought it is difficult to control a horse and I would be got rid of by it and thrown on the ground easily! But today we have a great tour guide and she gave us clear easy instructions as to how to control them. Their Icelandic horse... More

A friend took me on a first riding trip with Polar Hestar and yes, in the beginning I did have my doubts if I would "survive" the trip. Well, I did survive it - and even more: I had so much fun that I was desperate to even go on another trip just a couple days later! This was definitely... More

On my trip tp iceland, all that i wanted to do was ride an icelandic horse. I went to the information center in Akureyri and i leared that there were 3 places nearby with tours from 1 hour all the way to 4 hours. Polar hestar had the most reasonable price per a person on the 2 hour tours (... More

The whole journey is well-organized.The instructor let us try trot, tölt and gallop with comfortable intervals. We are properly challenged, but feel safe all the way. On the way, we also had a nice farmland view and met closely with cows and sheeps. After the 2-hour tour, we were invited to a cozy coffee break, with company of a super... More

We took a 2 hour trail ride from 10-12 and in typical Icelandic fashion, it rained! Despite the rain, it was a beautiful ride. If you don't have your own rain gear, they have some you can borrow. The horses were so sweet and the guides were just as wonderful. It was a great authentic Iceland horse riding experience, with... More

Enjoyed a two hour morning ride across the meadows near the fjord with our trail leader Anna and her colleague Annika bringing up,the rear. What a lovely, laid back, friendly place to go for a ride on their well-mannered Icelandic horses. After the ride a chance to get to know the others in your riding group over homemade cakes and... Polar Hestar is a family run riding farm. There are a variety of trips, from six days to an hour. The Icelandic horses are calm, surefooted and friendly. I have been to Polar Hestar four times, and I hope to go back.

We had a wonderful 2 hour ride on their sure footed horses. The views were amazing but seeing them through the ears of our horses we were riding made it even better. We tolted and cantered quite a bit too - fun! On a note, be sure to bring cash as they don't take credit!
