We have been to Iceland several times. It is getting hard to get away from the crowds. But rest assured you will be alone on a glacier if you take this trip!
The group was six, plus the guide. We were the only tour all...More
I did the 4-5 hour glacier walk with 4 other guys and 1 guide, and it was sensational. Our guide Steppi (no doubt I’ve spelt that completely wrong!) was really knowledgeable and informative, but also left us in silence sometimes. I really appreciated those silences...More
It was a blast going out on the glacier. We were a little slow going up, but our guide was very accommodating and helpful for those who needed it and still kept the trip fun for the more fit members. We got unlucky with a...More
Steinar really made the trip great. We went on the glacier walk on the Fláajökull glacier outlet. He made sure everyone had a fantastic experience and he was really informative. You could tell he loves to share his knowledge about the glacier and the whole...More
My wife and I went on a tour of the "blue" looking glaciers half way between Reykjavik and Hofn. The staff were very knowledgeable and friendly. I learned a lot about the climate of Iceland because of this guided tour. We also got to wear...More
We were taken by Steinar and his colleague to walk on the glacier. The equipment was all of good quality and we were clearly instructed on how to use it. There was a Land Rover trip then a boat trip to reach the glacier. There...More
My tour was with Raggy and he was an excellent tour guide. There were eight in the group and we rode in a super Jeep to near the mouth of the glacier. We hiked for about 15 minutes on rocks in nasty weather and then...More

My tour guide was Sindri. He was very particular of our safety and shared the inherent dangers of the glacier. Which made me feel reassured that we booked the right guide.
The weather wasn't too kind to us when we were making our way to...More
The hiking boots I rent were not comfortable. But once you get used to it, you can enjoy the beautiful nature and glacier and eventually ice cave. The ice cave was naturally made. It's water channel during summer time and winter time you can visit...More

It is not about age and only partially about fitness. It's about comfort level walking on very rocky surfaces. I could handle the duration, 6 hours, and the intensity. I had a hard time with the hike to the glacier. The glacier was easy once I wrapped my head around the fact that I wouldn't slip wearing the cleats provided for us. I am not sure footed and do not have mountain goat in my genes. You do need to be somewhat fit. I workout in the gym and walk ALOT. I don't have enough experience mountain hiking and that would have been better. I slowed everyone down, but they were nice about it.
