I wouldn’t have bothered to stop here if we weren’t running early for our Glacier tour and I’m so glad we did! Allow 30 minutes. The toilets require a fee. The Barnafoss with their glacial colouring a few meters up an easy path are pretty...More

There are two waterfalls here (Hraunfossar and Barnafoss). It is an easy detour and easy walk to the two falls, which are connected by a path.

This waterfall was pretty cool for a few reason. The number one reason is that its a series of smaller falls that flows out of layers in the earth. There is no big river that dumps them over the side. Its interesting to think there...More

This place didn’t took a lot of our time, since the walking distance from the parking to the viewing platform wasn’t far to both Hraunfossar and the neighbouring Barnafoss. It’s ideal to visit this after Langjokull glacier tour, since it’s located really close to the...More

We weren't planning on going to these falls, but we saw a picture of them at another stop on Highway 1 and thought they looked impressive enough to backtrack and go see. I think it was worth the effort as the falls are very unusual...More

They’ve built up a boardwalk / bridge / hiking area here. The waterfalls are very pretty and almost anyone can make the short walks. The area must be very well travelled because the trails are now either roped off or have boardwalks on them so...More

This waterfall is not the most impressive in Iceland, but it is different from others you will see. Hraunfossar is a series of small falls coming through cracks in the lava rocks. I would not make a big detour for seeing the falls. But if...More

We drove to Hraunfossar and Barnafoss from Pingliveur National Park. These are two nice falls, accessible from the same parking lot. The trail system is nice and fairly level. There are some more difficult parts if you want. There is also a cafe with a...More

There are two waterfalls , just close to each other and in walkin distance. There is a possibility to watch the waterfalls from bith sides. A bridge is crossing the water. There is a small restauarant to have a snack. Parkings is for free.

I think this waterfall was my favourite while visiting Iceland. Quite different with the powerful Barnafoss at the head rushing through the rock and then the main river powers down while Hraunfossar enters from a side. Different and attractive.

I did this almost that exact trip (we didn't do the crater, but we did Grimsey Island) and found ten days was perfect. Although we did this beginning the first week of June, 2017. I would be very worried about road... More

A toddler is better off on a self tour, mine got irritable at unpredictable intervals for diaper change, walk, etcetera.
