Located just outside the town of Raufarhofn, the Arctic Henge is a mystery. It is the Icelandic version of Stonehenge but not nearly as well understood. 50 meters across, the main access points are the cardinal directions. It is thought to be connected to the...More

Raufarhofn is I think the northernmost village in Iceland and a good ways off the ring road. But finding the henge is easy, you can see it before you see the town and there are signs pointing the way. It is very much a "serve...More

This site is under construction. However, it is interesting to see if you are in this area. You can park fairly close to the structures and walk among them. They are quite large. We spent about 20 minutes walking around the site, and then we...More

Isolated community in Northern Iceland, this is a monument to the country's pagan past. It was freezing when we visited (in the summer) and we really thought it a waste of time.

I was quite sceptical about this place initially. We came here because I saw one of my friends visited this place during his trip in September 2016. We were hunting for the Northern Lights and this place is the best place to be if you...More

Middle of nowhere man made stone henge. Very cool and ominous. If you find yourself this far north you gotta stop and check it out. Great view of the town and ocean, just overall very cool sight to see.

As a practicing pagan I obviously loved this place. There is an info sign, it’s just about ¼ of a mile away! The ambience was slightly marred by the reversing of trucks and diggers, but they are still building it! The sign says that no...More
