About
Nature Explorer offers tours in Iceland in Super Jeeps or Super-Trucks, which are modified 4x4s, which enable us to safely drive on glaciers and across unbridged rivers and reach otherwise inaccessible terrains, so that you can explore more of Iceland. We are a small, family run Icelandic tour operator, with a team of expert driverguides with background in Mt. Search & Rescue, 4x4 instructors and professional guides. We have a passion for Iceland and take pride sharing it in a personalized service on a variety of day and multi day tours. On our day tours out of Reykjavik we have the smallest group size in the industry, only 5 passengers per Super Jeep, but we can also cater to larger groups, and we offer private tours. We hope we can share your Iceland adventure.

A truly spectacular vacation. Einar was a fantastic guide. His xl Jeep took us to places you would not normally get to go. Most times we were the only people there. It made for a magical experience. Told us history of Iceland recent and past as well as the folklore of the places we visited. We were lucky to have him as our guide.
The tour company helped us get the best out of our short stay. Hoping to get back there again as there is so much more to explore. Thank you Hawk, Einar and the tour staff we did not get meet for memorable trip.

Our trip was amazing. Our guide was knowledgeable about the history and knew the best locations to view the wonders of Iceland. What an incredible trip in an incredible country. The company was easy to work with and helped us plan the most memorable trip.

Working with Hawk he helped me plan a trip for 7 friends, all with different ideas of what they wanted to do, he created an amazing, first rate, personalized experience. We had the XL-Super Truck which was awesome. Our guide Einar was extremely knowledgeable, professional, patience and flexible! We hope to go back to Iceland in the future and we will look no further than hiring Nature Explorer again.

Our guide Einar was amazing. Over the three days we went to beaches glaciers volcanoes lagoons waterfalls lava fields and great local venues for lunch. His stories and knowledge of Iceland was entertaining and educational. Highly recommend him if you’re going to Iceland

There is no other way to see the remote interior of Iceland for me. Despite the often rough terrain I always felt safe with our very skilled driver.

i booked a 5 day super jeep tour as a single traveller. Hawk set together a tour fitting to my things i wanted to see and attached some extras. sure this kind of tour is more expensive than a regular bus tour, but its all tailor made and all the time you can tell your driver to stop, for example to take photos. Not possible when having a big group on a bus. The jeeps are able to take backcountry roads even in winter, which is a huge plus, this kind of super jeep adventure you wont forget. Plus you get some extra infos and fun facts from the driver. (high 5 to Asgeir!) this wont be my last Iceland experience, i'll come back and for sure i choose Hawk and his high expertise team from Nature Explorer!

Booked via Hawk who was extremely helpful in helping me plan a fun day. Easy to pay and arrange. On the day Kate was our guide and so much fun!! We saw the amazing sights on the Golden Circle and the highlight was the glacier trip in the Super Jeep which is really worth the upgrade. The countryside is just awesome and Kate was so knowledgeable and easy natured which made it so much fun without the mass market tourist vibe that the other operators seem to run. Just book it and take the upgraded Super Truck, you won't regret it. Thanks Kate, we loved you!!!

18 days before arrival in Iceland my grown-up daughter and I decided to go there, so I googled private tours in Iceland to get somebody to arrange our holidays for 13 days in September. I felt very well with the correspondence with Hawk, he took care of all bookings, also hotels on days without guidance as well as transfer to and from airport, so we decided to book a 7-day tour with a private guide and a one-day tour 4 days later.
The time we spent in Iceland was fantastic and the colours even more (autumn), and Tryggvi was a funny and storytelling guide, and we were happy to have him all these days!
We’ve seen so much and so many fantastic places. The weather wasn’t really fantastic, but you made the best of it, and we felt safe with your guidance (as a hurricane came up we had to change our plans, but your suggested alternative was perfect for us).
But… there were two small downsides. At first, we would have liked to go more hiking. We spent a lot of time in the car going from one place to another (and yes, we’ve seen a lot of beautiful places!), but I mentioned this in my emails to Hawk before travelling and again to Tryggvi while driving around, and it was like “you can go, but we have to continue very soon”, so it was much time just sitting…
And the last day tour was quite disappointing. We were originally supposed to do the golden circle and Fagradalsfjall, which would have been a long day, but as the volcano was not recommended because of the weather and missing eruption we did the tour via Hvalfjördur and Thingvellir (we saw Gullfoss and the Geysir on the “hurricane day”); and after this we didn’t have time to see the Kerid crater AND do a (short) Reykjavik tour, would take too much time. So we chose the Reykjavik tour and arrived at our hotel at about 16:30 and to me this was kind of a short day (beginning at 9:30) for the whole price. We would have expected it to be a looong day with a real hike and then just spent most of the short day in the car.

My husband and I booked two private tours (in addition to airport transportation to and from Keflavik) with NET for our first visit to Iceland...one for the Golden Circle and one for a possible viewing of the Northern Lights. Once there, we asked to add a hike to view the Fagradalsfjall Volcano. For many reasons, we could not have been more pleased with this tour company:
- The knowledge, friendliness, and love for what they do was evident with every interaction.
- They paid attention to even the smallest detail...I mentioned in passing to Hawk that I didn't really enjoy trinket shopping and that my favorite souvenir was a reusable grocery bag from local grocers. The morning of the next tour, the guide greeted me with a gift from Hawk...a Hagkaup reusable bag:).
- Even though our volcano visit was a last-minute add-on, we were provided an amazing guide (Ousie- forgive any misspelling;)) who knew how to get us close enough to be mesmerized by the phenomenon but far enough away to feel safe at all times.
- The Northern Lights are a tempermental beast; you are never guaranteed a viewing. Even so, Hawk checked in with us every day, letting us know what the weather and viewing forecast meant for a possible trip that evening. Unfortunately, luck was not on our side and our trip did not overlap with a good viewing. Fortunately, though, NET refunded the entire tour cost within hours of our last evening in Reykjavik. Many tour companies would have taken us out on a night that was less than favorable just to check the box and keep the fee. Apparently, NET is not only a well-organized company, but it is also a very ethical one.
- For both airport transportation and tours, NET was either on-time or early. The vehicles were SO clean and SO comfortable. When touring a foreign country for the first time, these little things can definitely add to the enjoyment of the adventure.
Iceland is a spectacular country, and, yes, you could probably put together simple excursions on your own. However, not only did we get to see the sites we wanted, but we were also able to eat at a sold-out restaurant for lunch (Hawk credited his smile;)) and add in impromptu visits, including ones to power-generation sites, the Blue Lagoon, and the President's house (where Ousie snuck in a picture of us on the meeting house steps:)). NET met and exceeded our expectations and gave us a week of highly memorable adventures.
