This place is just magical! And the architecture is simply breathtaking! Especially when the sunlight breaks in the glass facade! As a visitor, you can stroll through some areas of the "Harpa" in peace and quietly look at this magnificent work. You also have a magnificent view of the sea. Insanity!

This is really a very unique concert hall up there with Sydney and Oslo. Even if you do not go on a tour or event it is worth walking around. Most people do not go to the top floor but you should definitely do this. There are great views of the city shoreline. Unfortunately we did not get a chance to see the actual concert hall interior but we were still not disappointed since it is such a beautiful building.

This building is beautiful, different colored windows in the front. My sister and I went here to see the Emiliana Torrini concert and it was absolutely amazing. The concert hall was large, I don' think there could have been a bad seat in the house. We sat in row 9, seats 5 and 6, and had no problem seeing the stage.
Overall the facilities were clean.

definitely worth a stop inside to see the internal structure and angles of the glass. There are also restrooms which were quite welcomed after walking around the city for a while. Covid testing in the basement too (by appointment). very unique place (nice shop in the lobby too)

No doubt it's a beautiful building, and probably great for a show, but if you're a tourist looking for things to do on a stay in Reykjavik, there's not much to do here. The only bar we could access was downstairs without a view and while we were looking for somewhere to settle in for a few drinks in a nice spot, the staff were very disinterested once they saw we were only ordering a drink. Enjoy the view of the building from a distance, don't waste your time with a visit.

This was an unusual structure which dominates the waterfront. We did not attend any presentations there but could appreciate the structure.

Beautiful building, very much worth visiting. Came here for a covid test - offered in the basement. (costs about $50 US). Really worth visiting.
Lots of artistic activities carried on in the building

Beautiful building on the water. Worth taking a walk through when you are in the area. There were places to eat on first floor that looked good (although we did not eat there) and obviously the concerts they hold here.

This is another of the small number of places one needs to visit in Reykjavik Down on the waterfront it is an impressive piece of modern architecture. We went for a late lunch during a day in the capital. Iceland is a vary expensive place to eat and we had not really worked a quick way of calculating the exchange rate (1000 Icelandic krona is about 6GBP) WE had two small salads (the waitress actually apologised about one of them) two bowls of fries, one beer one fruit juice, two coffees and shared a dessert - we were surprised that it came to just under 100GBP!

My travel mate was very eager to see this building. I found it rather ungainly and felt it didn't fit the scale or the visual feeling of the rest of the town (which I loved). One could get vertigo on the stairs also... it's impressive I guess but a cold building.

Are there any classical concerts or operas in September?

I am not sure on that. You can check with the Centrum Hotel which is close by to the concert hall. I know they have conferences, and a thing called "How to become Icelandic in 30 minutes" I think that is the name of it. I've not seen it, however the people at the hotel say it's very funny. Elaine

Is there a cafe here? If so what kind of food is available and what kind prices please?

There is a restaurant and a bar area where you can have coffee / cake etc. It's on the ground floor. Prices are not cheap but nothing is in Iceland.

We will be coming to Iceland next week and my friend will be performing with the Iceland Symphony Orchestra the day after we leave :( However, she will be rehearsing with them at their Thursday rehearsal so we would like to go see her then. She's not sure of the time when she would be singing so I'm just wondering how long the rehearsal usually lasts. The time online says 9:30am - 1pm. Does it usually last that long? I'm only asking because I'm trying to decide whether or not to bring my 5 year old and he definitely won't want to stay the entire time. Thanks!

I'm looking to purchase tickets to "How to Become Icelandic in 60 Minutes" for July 2018. The show is held in Kaldalón hall in the Harpa Concert Hall. When I go to purchase tickets, the only option I am given in terms of seating is "Zone A". Is seating first come, first served? Or are seats assigned?

Hi.
Has anyone used the cloakroom at the Harpa to store their carry ons. A large rucksack ?
We are coming straight from airport via blue lagoon to make the show and don't have time to check in hotel.
Any advice appreciated.
Harpa don't answer direct emails.
Thanks

Saw the cloakroom. No idea how much they would charge but would think they could accommodate a rucksack. Make sure you book for blue lagoon in advance, we didn’t and decided to try the beautiful public baths instead, loads around, with hot outdoor tubs....fraction of BL !,and you’ll be mixing with the locals who are very friendly

Sorry, we did not learn any of the language. In general many in the tourist industry are very friendly, and speak English very well. If you are in a shop or tourist area where there may be some language barrier it is not too great. Their personalities are very much like people in general; very friendly and helpful that you love them or holy heavens what did I just run in to, lol!

What is the cost to tour the Harpa?
Should we purchase tickets prior to the date of the tour or are they readily available on the day of the tour? Travel date is in July.
Thank you.
