Einar Jónsson museum of art is one of a kind. Einar saw the life with different eyes and his art is unique. A must visit.

The building housing this collection of sculpture is even more interesting than the collection itself. Although it is now dwarfed by the nearby Hallgrimmskirke, Jonsson’s Museum was originally the highest building in Reykjavík, and included a penthouse apartment where he and his wife lived. Interesting...More

Across the street from the Hallsgrimskikja church. The monumental work of one sculptor. Dozens of interesting pieces. Ask for the detailed explanation of the large pieces in the Blue Room. Don’t miss the artist’s apartment on the second floor. The sculpture garden in the rear...More

Really interesting bronze casts of Einar Jonsson's work in a lovely green garden (with some of the only taller trees you'll see in Iceland!)

It wasn’t raining (!) and we were just wandering. We passed Leif and the church and came across these statues. It was Sunday at 11:00 and suddenly the bells were chiming, the sun was shining, the cats were roaming, and the guided clumps of people...More

Just across the street from the big church on the hill. Free parking available nearby. The sculpture, both in the museum and the garden, is amazing. Nice view from the artist's quarters upstairs.
