We visited the outdoor sculpture museum in the back of the regular museum during our Feb. 17 visit to Reykjavik; it had snowed just before our arrival, & we went to the sculpture museum at night, & with the snow & light on the sculptures (this was at nite) my husband had a fantastic time taking shots of the sculptures.... This was on my wife's must do list, and I have to say I am so glad we went. I discovered an amazing artist! The small apartment on the top floor has great views of Hallgrimskirkja and Reykjavik.

We only visited the sculpture garden. The entrance is free. Sculptures are very well done and nicely arranged. They represent humanoid figures from christian and icelandic sagas / fairytales backgrounds, interwoven in each single sculpture. Bewildering ...

Loved the sculptures in the garden. A must see for art lovers or if you just want a break in a quiet area to appreciate some art. The outline of the church outside the museum is pretty cool!

This is a beautiful gallery, apparently the first in Reykjavik to be built as a designated gallery. Jonsson was a very powerful and talented sculptor and painter. There are two floors of his works, as well as a sculpture garden showcasing his bronzes. The top floor was his private apartment, which is also available for viewing. This is a wonderful... More

A visit to the Einar Jonsson Museum gives a larger sampling of this important sculptor's work, in addition to the Christ sculpture in the Hallgrimskirkja church next door. We saw the gallery and his apartment upstairs, which has great views of the city and takes you back to early 1900's. Sculpture garden would have been nice, but in February after... More

I didn't visit the Museum because my time was limited. But I did visit the sculpture garden. It's only 3 minutes walking from Hallgrímskirkja and you must know exactly where it is, otherwise you'll miss it. The garden is open all the year round and it's free to the public. There are 26 wonderful statues scattered among tall trees and... More

We only saw the outside portion, and it was well worth the visit. The pieces are original, beautiful, and thoughtfully executed.

The garden behind the museum is one of my favourite places in Reykjavík. It is peaceful and consists of beautiful and unique pieces of art. The artwork is philosophically and spiritually interesting and the sculptor had a great talent. Many of the statues you see around and about in the city are his work. If you decide to enter inside...
