We manage to make it there last minute just in time as the tides rose for us on the way back to the packing lot. There was a record breaking storm when we arrived at the Keflavik airport so the lighthouse was covered in a...More

On New Year's Eve 2016, I went on a four-hour walk around the southern part of Reykjavik, finding myself finally on the Seltjarnarnes peninsula - a stunning nature reserve, filled with birds tough enough and beautiful enough to endure the Arctic winter. The sun was...More

We were staying in the centre of Reykjavik and got the number 11 bus which drops you about 5 minutes walk to the lighthouse. We went there two nights in a row to see the lights and were not disappointed. We missed the last bus...More

Wonderful place to go for a walk and enjoy nature. It's a natural park. With a lot of see birds and a really nice beach to walk. The silence make it perfect.

A fun short walk across a sand barrier to the Island of Grótta, where the lighthouse stands, nice quiet environment. You need good shoes as the path lies across a sandy beach, and warm clothes as it is often windy there. BEWARE OF THE TIDE!!!...More

Took an early walk to get photos of the lighthouse as the sun came up. Best photo was of an old local man who didn't speak English soaking in the footpath on the way to the lighthouse.

Great great location for the lights. It's s short drive from the city center but well worth it for a chance to see the northern lights

We took a drive and parked easily. It was low tide and a great opportunity for the kids to run around a bit; exploring the beaches, spotting a variety of bird species and racing around the lighthouse. A great option for something outdoors yet near...More

It is located the most eastern side of Reykjavik and the place to view Northern lights at Reykjavik where it is the darkest. Limited parking space and there is a path that you can walk all the way to the lighthouse. Unfortunately we couldn't see...More

Read in a blog about this place for possible Northern Lights viewing, being closest to Reykjavik. Quite a number of people and cars around (actually not bad when going there in the middle of the night). And we got lucky as we were able to...More

Sunset is between 8 and 9 pm and you will have the sun behind the lighthouse on the sea (perfect photo opportunity). Sunrise is between 5 and 6 am.

Lots of birds returning in mid to late March. There was a tide chart posted on the estuary when I was there.

Upps, I am so very sorry, just saw your question. Honestly, I have no clue as we were there at midnight to chase the Northern Lights. Kind regards. Marina
