Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Must do activity if you’re in Iceland, a special experience to snorkel in such clear scenic waters.

Cristo was superb too 👍🏽

Snorkling was definitely one of the best things we did in Iceland. The long process of getting ready and getting into the dry suits was totally worth it once we got in the water. Every minute of it was fascinating and fun. I cannot overstate how cool it was to see into the rift formed by tectonic plates separating. Special kudos to our guide Luis with Adventure Vikings. He was funny and patient and professional. He made the onerous process of suiting up and down easy and it was a pleasure getting to know him.

If you are in any way wavering on whether this experience is worth it... stop. It 100% is.

Amazing snorkeling tour with our guide Hugo 😊 he is nice, patience, knowledgeable, caring. Even though it was -7 degree Celsius. He made our snorkeling experience as warm as he is. Thank you for the great tour Hugo. Great job on your work!

This really felt like a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Our instructor was helpful and thorough. He assisted us every step of the way with putting on the gear. We ended up doing drysuits given the time of year and this allowed us to stay dry and warm (we each kept our leggings and a long sleeve on under the suit). Water did feel cold on our hands and face, but they gave us tips to make this bearable that worked well. The water was so clear and we're so glad we did this.

This experience was really well run and pretty dang cool.
Our guide (Dori) was excellent! She was clearly extremely competent from the get-go and good at giving instructions in a way that made everyone feel comfortable. We had a person in our group drop out when she got in the water and Dori handled it really well. A person that came out in the group after us was being a little crazy and she handled him in a calm and steady manner.
As far as the actual snorkeling: The drysuit does a good job of keeping you warm (except your face/head and hands). I would just make sure to bring good thermal leggings, thick wool socks, and an athletic or thermal top. The swimming was also pretty easy - I'm athletic but not a particularly strong swimmer and it was a breeze.
Overall it was a cool experience with a great guide.

I’ll start by saying Luis who picked me up from Reykjavik is an incredibly kind soul and deserves all the praise in the world so this review in no way reflects him. I want that made clear.
I am a solo traveler…I’m also a short curvy woman BUT I fit their “height and weight requirements” so while getting suited up I mentioned many times that my dry suit did not fit properly, that my gloves don’t fit properly (Cristos response was always “you don’t need hands anyway”) well….Cristo…you are wrong. The improperly fitted suit made it incredibly hard to walk let alone “frog swim” as I couldn’t move my legs like a normal human being or the rest of the group. Nobody cared. We get into the water and of course my gloves which I SAID MULTIPLE TIMES DIDNT FIT fell right off. Cristo helped me get them back on in the water and told me to not use my hands or they would fall off again. Yet as my snorkel which I couldn’t reach or adjust kept falling off and filling with water there was nothing I could do because I literally could not grab anything with the ill fitting gloves.
The photos: all HORRIBLE. You can see the gloves don’t fit, I couldn’t move my legs to swim in a decent position for a photo I was stuck just floating like an unalive body. Quite literally have zero pics that are not an embarrassment.
As soon as we could get out of the water I did. Not because it wasn’t beautiful and stunning but because I couldn’t move. While walking back to the meeting point after getting out I had a full blown panic attack because I couldn’t move my legs enough to keep up with group and I felt left behind. Thankfully another guide woman from Troll expeditions (not even my tour group) immediately came running and helped me. If it wasn’t for her that could have got a lot worse.
Now before anyone says I couldn’t handle it:
I am PADI certified. (Surprise Cristo I’m not incompetent!)
I have been on over 120 dives around the world. I’m not new to being in the water nor am I new to walking with heavy gear. But losing not only the ability to use my hands but also not having the ability to walk or swim in such an ill fitting suit made everything come crashing down around me and it genuinely scared me.
Also Cristo…I speak Spanish…I know what you said to Luis about me…rude but nothing I’m not used to.
Would I recommend this activity? Yes BUT only if you insist on properly fitted material.
Would I recommend this company? No. Absolutely not. Other than Luis being so kind there is nothing that will make up for the horrible experience they gave me.
I wish I could say I will try again in Spring…but this was my bucket list trip…I am not going to be around much longer and unfortunately this was not a good impression or memory.
