Hi, I just read your interesting review of Adventure Vikings Silfra wet suit snorkel & Golden Circle. You didn't mention anything about the follow up Golden Circle tour and I would like to know if you think it is worth combining the two tours or whether we should consider doing the Golden Circle separately on a different day. Do you have enough time at each site to enjoy them?
Thanks, Lisa
Hi Lisa and thank you for your question.
The combo tour of Silfra snorkeling & the Golden Circle is well worth doing. On the tour we always start with the snorkeling part which finishes around noon and from there we keep going to the three locations of the Golden Circle.
Note that Silfra fissure, the snorkeling location, is situated in Thingvellir National Park which is the first location of the Golden Circle. The other two locations are the hot spring geysers area Geysir and the Gullfoss waterfall area.
A factor that we also always have to think of during this time of year, the icelandic wintertime, is the limited amount of daylight. The Snorkeling partion is started at 10am while it is still dark, so we are all set, ready to hit the water around 11am when the sun is already up. This setup also leaves more then enough daylight for the Golden Circle. One of the main difference between us and some other companies is that while some other operators might walk you through each location, we will give you all the information and fun facts needed at each location and then let you explore on your own. We of cause do give out a certain time limit at each location but still enough time to enjoy each site. Through years of experience we would like to believe that we have tuned in on the right amount of time for each location.
Be cause of the limited daylight during wintertime and the fact that when snorkeling, you already are at the starting point, the first location of the golden circle. Timewise for you, the visitor, we recommend combining the two tours rather then doing them separately on a different day.
I hope I have answered your question clearly but if not, do not hesitate to contact us again!
Best Regards
The Adventure Vikings Team
