If you're going to be in Iceland... this is a MUST. Just being on the glacier and appreciate the scenery, the size of it alone is breathtaking.

Great view and great pictures. The walk is great and the black sand / rock was beautiful. It’s a good hike to the bottom but you can see it with just a short walk. Great for all ages.

Me and my SO visited the Glacier by ourself and hiked around as far as we could. It was a bit dangerous without real hiking gear because it's pretty slippery but it was totally worth the risk! Beautiful glacier with hidden treasures everywhere you look....More

This activity involves quite a bit of walking so you need to be able to walk for awhile and be able to climb up some hills. We went with a guide from Arctic Adventures and he was excellent. There was another company and I think...More

Pretty amazing, a short drive and walk to this serene site. Plenty of parking and great views an easy walk wear good walking shoes the gravel path can get slippery. Worth a detour to.

My husband walked the glacier, but my teenage son and I elected not to. Because we were on a tour, we had to decide between the glacier walk and the Black Sand Beach. A difficult decision, so hopefully one that other reviewers will not have...More

Spend at least one day east from Vik to Hofn exploring lava fields, glaciers and icebergs. Great walking opportunities. Take the boat to see the icebergs up close.

Located near Vik, it is a short hike from the parking area to Myrdalsjokull Glacier. A beautiful area and great for taking pictures.

It is easy to get to, free parking, and a path to walk to the Glacier. You can see how much it is melting, plus the volcanic dirt covers some of it. You can hike it or kayak in the water around it - you...More

We went there on the 6th March and we would not have been able to drive there ourselves. It was necessary to go in a super jeep tour, and we even saw one of them get stuck in the snow, but obviously they know how to get out... More
