We hadnt planned on visiting the plane wreck but an ATV tour we took brought us here and I'm really glad it did. The contrast of the plane with the surrounding of the black beach (in our case, covered with snow) was really cool, and...More

My review is mostly for #Arcanum and #IcelandicMountainGuides who had this great idea of introducing the #PlaneWreckShuttle which basically allows people to spend at least one hour by the plane, getting there in just 7-10 minutes, instead of walking at least 40 minutes each way,...More

We stayed in The barn hostel around a 20 min drive away and set off bright and early to make sure we got there in time to make the suggested ’hour’ long hike (or 3-4 hour round trip as one sign on the beach says)...More

We got the great idea to swing by at sunrise, as did many other tourists. That said, still possible to get shots without tons of people, and totally worth the hike. Just don't expect to have the plane to yourselves. :-P

It's an interesting sight; a wrecked plane fuselage stripped down to the frame. It's recommended that you enjoy hiking and scenery, 'cause it's a long walk

This place has been made popular in India by the Indian superstar (SRK). One of his songs was shot here. Its basically a plane wreck and be prepared to walk around 7 km's (back & forth) in cold and blistery weather to see it.

The walk from the car park to the plane is about one hour, one way. The car park by the main road allows visitors to leave their vehicles and proceed their way over to the wreck, taking approximately two hours. Do take extra precautions when...More

To get to the plane, you have to walk a couple of kilometres, but since the area is very flat, it is not a difficult endeavour. The plane in itself looks very interesting, though I wonder how long it will take for Icelandic people to...More

Easy walk from the car park along a gravel track which is clearly marked. I’d personally recommend to come before sunrise and bring a head torch. You can then be there on your own. Which is quite unheard of in 2019 with tourism a hit...More

I agree on cheacking the weather for that 2 hour time frame, it’s a huge empty land to walk towards the crash site, best to walk during the day, it can be really windy. Pack a bottle of water, No restroom nearby so be... More

I think Troll do but it will take up a large part of any tour and is slightly underwhelming, considering it’s a 40min walk in each direction - which if the weather is bad can be very unpleasant.

Yes, the road is closed. You can park in front of the trail and walk out to the plane. Be prepared for about an hour long walk to the wreck. Hope this helps
