Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

A trip to Stykkisholmur is not complete without a visit to Sugandisey lighthouse. Its an climb to the top of the hill, where you are rewarded with 360 vies of the harbour and the nearby islands. It can be windy and bracing but that's all part of the experience!

We did the small hike up to the light house and really enjoyed the easy hike. You are rewarded with amazing views of Stykkisholmur and the town is very colorful and photogenic. You can see the famous church and the harbor from here. The hike is easy to manage and worth the trip up.

The walk to the small lighthouse provides outstanding views over the picturesque harbour and the surrounding area. If you are mobility-challenged you may find the steep stairs too difficult but once on top the terrain is relatively flat and there are several places to look out at the scenery.

Very hard to miss. Once you arrive at the harbor area you will find the stairway up to the lighthouse area. Moderate walk, well constructed stairs. The lighthouse is not very large, but is quite photogenic. You can walk around the upper area here and take great photos of the harbor, town, water.

Quite a climb for an old fart like myself, but the views were worth it... The town is absolutely picturesque and the ocean views are stunning. I loved this place. The lighthouse was actually unimpressive, but everything else was great.

If you are in town, definitely climb up to the lighthouse. The vistas are amazing. Fjords can be seen if you walk down a couple of paths not often taken by tourists once they are up top. However, good shoes are required to make any of the climb up. And I would not take a child up there without holding onto them.

Would not drive out of your way for this but Definitely worth seeing if you are staying in town. Beautiful views of the harbor and surrounding area. A very serene setting at night. I found this town to match my image of what I thought a sea side small town in Iceland would look like. Sugandisey provides best views of both the town and surrounding harbor. Easy walk from anywhere in town. probably Forty or so steps to climb but worth it.
