Quite expensive and in September there is not much wildlife except for a few birds. It's nice to go around the islands and learning about the geology is very interesting. The highlight of the tour has to be when they catch shellfish and serve it...More

This is just a 2 hour boat ride, but a lot of fun. Seals and many birds including white tailed eagle. They drag a trawl in the bay and catch urchins, starfish and scallops. The scallops are served up fresh with wasabi and soy sauce....More

From Brjanslaekur to Stykkishólmur, about 3 hrs trip with a stop at Flatey. Large ship, lots of space and the ride was very smooth. Great weather so we could sit outside in the sun. Restaurant available somewhere on the bottom floor, very expensive though, 35...More

Viking Sushi was a great experience. You cannot get seafood any fresher! The tour through the islands was also great, with a lot of bird viewings, incl. puffins. Definitely a recommendable trip.

The tour itself is nice enough with some islands and puffins. But is really all about the scallops and sea urchin. They drop a small drag net for 5 minutes, pull it up, open and serve. Sweet but redolent of the sea. Wow!

After spending a full day driving the beautiful, yet often tedious and terrifying road from West Iceland to Látrabjarg cliffs, we chose to take the ferry from Brjanslaekur to Stykkisholmur on our return trip the next day. The ferry experience was excellent and worth the...More

When I emailed the tour operator at Iceland Travel to ask whether it was reasonable to add the Westfjords region to my ten-day itinerary, I think I heard her heavy sigh from halfway around the world. She suggested as an alternative a trip to Flatey...More
