Great tour and lunch with beautiful Dartmoor views
We live locally and finally got around to a visit. We did the tour , wine tasting and lunch and the whole thing was amazing. The tour was fascinating as was the tasting session and the wine was surprisingly lovely ! The lunch was very tasty with great attention to detail and very friendly staff , nothing was too much trouble . Views across Dartmoor from the restaurant were some of the best there are . Will definitely be back and will be recommending to friends .
Lovely to hear how much you enjoyed your visit to us!

Informative tour, lovely quality food and wine.
We really enjoyed this vineyard tour. It has a nice family atmosphere, explaining how the venture started more as a hobby than a business and then showing how it has grown. The tour finished with a tasting which, even though I am not a wine drinker, I enjoyed. We had been given a gift of a lunch platter too; this consisted of quality meats and cheeses with the emphasis on local produce where possible. Service was friendly and we were even offered a takeaway box for the cheese we couldn't manage.
    Thanks for sharing Richard!

    Fantastic vineyard tour
The tour guide was extremely friendly, entertaining and knowledgeable. Tom gave a great understanding of what it takes to run a vineyard and gave everyone an appreciation for the hard work that goes into each bottle of wine. I was also very pleasantly surprised by how fresh and delicious the wine was! After a fantastic tour and tasting we sat down for lunch and had a superb cheese board, which was served by the friendliest team I have encountered. I would highly recommend this to anyone who enjoys a glass of wine!
Thanks for the lovely words! We have passed it on to our team how much you enjoyed your visit with us

    A fascinating and delicious experience.
This trip was a birthday gift; tour with wine tasting and cream tea. We stayed for lunch too. We were very fortunate with the sunshine but the tour would have been fascinating whatever the weather. This really is a family business spanning three generations. The views are stunning. The wines are very unusual and delicious. The cafe serves very high quality food. The service is fabulous. We would recommend this to couples, families, individuals or groups as a great day out. The cafe is dog friendly inside and out. The shop sells lovely Devon produce.

    Amazing vineyard tour, highly recommend
5, Tom was an excellent guide, very informative with some lovely tales, obviously very proud of his families business. Even Manny the cockerel didn’t match up, although did try his best to out shine Tom. Can highly recommend the white wine although the Rose is amazing, not being a rose drinker, was very pleasantly surprised.

    Superb Breakfast
5 star! We visited for breakfast with friends; a really warm welcome, smart restaurant and shop, enticing menu, good service, excellent coffee, and the breakfast was beautifully cooked, and……..delicious! Add to that stunning views over the valley on a sunny winter’s day, very friendly staff and the temptation of a vineyard tour and tasting when the sun shines more consistently, it all adds up to an outstanding experience. Highly recommended!!
Lovely to hear you had such a great time with us in the vines! Hopefully, we will see you in the summer on our tour experiences.

    Alder Vineyard delicious lunch
The venue has amazing views of the countryside. The lunch was delicious. A lovely twist to open sandwiches. The staff were very friendly and helpful. They gave my friend's dog a cushion and treats. Planning to go again.

    Fantastic
We’ve come here twice recently for brunch and absolutely love it. The breakfasts are consistently delicious, they use Warrens meat and other high quality ingredients. Service is spot on - the waitress recognised us from last time which was nice and looked after us brilliantly. It’s often unusual to see such consideration of allergens but their attention to detail is incredible. Thank you!
Great to hear how well our team did in regards to your allergens. It's our goal to make things as accessible as we can :)

We really enjoyed the whole experience. Anyone who can find fault in this place needs to get out more.

The staff were warm and welcoming, the tour of the vines started on time and was just the right length. The guide was very knowledgeable, as you would expect, as this is a family run business - he was the son and works here.

The indoor part, where he went through the process of what happens to the grapes, right through to the bottling was again, just about the right level of information and the wine tasting was well managed.

Our lunch, a large cheese platter and a glass of wine each was excellent. We ate outside, but didn't find any of the tables (inside or outdoors) "cramped together" (as someone else on this site complained).

All in all and excellent experience and we will be returning to sample the rose.

We visited the vineyard one afternoon in June 2021. Wow, the setup is beautifully new and clean. Having had a thoroughly enjoyable overview of the wine produced, we sampled the wines which we thoroughly enjoyed. Followed by the most delicious platter of food, we sat on the terrace overlooking the stunning scenery of the valley. What a fantastic way to wile away an afternoon, highly recommended.

We booked the Vineyard Tour & lunch online (a Christmas present to ourselves!). Very easy to book. Tom showed us around the vines and was easy to chat to and knowledgeable. We had a taster session (really lovely Rose & white wine) followed by a delicious lunch in the new cafe. It is obvious that much time, energy and love have been invested into this family business and Alder Vineyard thoroughly deserve their success. We look forward to returning in the near future to see how things have developed.

A small family run winery in South Devon with a new shop and restaurant where you can finish off the wine tour with a lovely homemade open sandwich, salad or breakfast muffin.

The tour was excellent and informative and it was made more special because it was delivered by one of the family who was passionate and informative.

The wines aren’t bad either.

Well worth a few hours visit.

What an amazing place! Was given a voucher for 2 people for a tour and lunch, and it did not disappoint.

The sun was shining which was a bonus - we started with a really informative tour around the vineyard and the wine making area. We then had a sample taste of the white, rose and sparkling wines - all three were delicious.

We then had lunch in the cafe which was a sharing platter with local cheeses, cold meats, nuts/olives and bread & crackers and an amazing damson chutney. The gluten free version was great with good quality gf bread and crackers. Of course it was accompanied by a glass of wine each. This was followed by dessert which we were too full to eat but we were able to take this away for later, along with the uneaten cheese we couldn’t manage.

The cafe has other lunch options so is ideal for a leisurely lunch or dinner which a lovely view, you don’t have to do the tour.

There is a shop onsite which sells the wine and chutney along with other items such as crackers and gin.

All the staff were so knowledgable about the vineyard and the produce and the customer service from all in the cafe/shop was top notch.

We wouldn’t have known about this place if we hadn’t been given the voucher as a Christmas present but we will definitely be back and will tell everyone about it, a real hidden gem and great to see a family business doing so well.

Really good time on the tour of the vineyard. Tom’s talk is engaging and brings to life his and his family’s journey to create some fine Devon wine. A great cafe for food (although I just grabbed a coffee) and a lovely shop stacked full on locally sourced products - taking home a few more purchases than originally planned! Great way to spend a couple of hours.

Fantastic trip out. Very informative tour about how a family have started from scratch to producing their own wine using sustainable methods .amazing scenery and the wine is delicious. We had lunch as well, a special winemakers platter for two which looked as beautiful as it sounds.
Dogs were welcome and even given a bed to lie on in the cafe and a biscuit…so both humans and animals very spoilt. Thank you for such a lovely time

The tour was given to us, as a Christmas present. One of the best presents we could have been given. I contacted the Vineyard a few weeks before the tour to book lunch as well. I wanted to know if they could our request for a dairy free menu as my wife is lactose intolerant. They could not be more helpful and accommodating. We were greeted by Sarah at the start of the tour to explain what was involved. The day did not disappoint. Not only is the Vineyard surrounded by beautiful scenery, but the care and attention the family give to the vines is second to none. You can tell the passion Sarah and her family has for the development of the fruit. We learned so much in the brief time we were there. Now to the wines. Currently they produce two wines. The white- Madeline Angevine. We don't tend to drink white wine as a rule, but will make an exception for this one. It is delicious. I have to say their Rondo Rose is Top Notch. 6 star. We tried to order a bottle to go with lunch, but they had run out. I just hope it will be ready to order for Christmas. Thank you to all the staff in the cafe as well. Excellent service. If you only visit one Vineyard in this country, make it the Alder Vineyard

Amazing setting ,Amazing lunch
Enjoyed a lunch here in the September sun overlooking one of the prettiest West Devon valleys ever.Even as locals, who are lucky enough to experience the loveliness of our countryside,we both agreed that,in the sunshine the setting was unbeatable.
To top it all we enjoyed a delicious lunch…the menu ,although brief, was interesting, locally sourced and very good value for money.Another venue to return to,maybe to take a wine tour too.

We did the vineyard tour and then stayed on for lunch. Everything was soo good we decided to come back the next morning for breakfast.
We got very lucky with the weather for the tour which was held by Tom and his dad. The vineyard, wine making and cafe is all family run and the whole property has such a nice community feel.
For lunch we got the sharing board which was stacked with delicious local Devon produce.
Breakfast was equally as delicious.
The cafe itself is such a beautiful space that has big open glass doors that open out for views over the vines and surrounding countryside.
All the servers are absolutely lovely and attentive.

We cannot wait to see what they next bottle up.
