One of the coldest days of the winter so far, but sunny, and we managed 5 hours walking round. Such a beautiful place: so many different species of wildfowl, large and small. Recommend you buy bags of food at £1 each - we hand fed a lot of the larger birds and you get such a wonderful close up view... More

We arrived shortly after 9.30 and stayed to the end of the bird feed past Sunset; it was a really cold day and several of the ponds were frozen. We enjoyed several excellent talks and covered most of the "continents". Several visitors who have given lower scores say the restaurant is expensive, but it's no more so than other attractions... Great day out whatever the weather, for all ages. You don't need to be a twitcher to enjoy the birdlife. From the hides you can see 1000s of amazing wildfowl, ducks, geese and swans. If you're very lucky you might see Cranes (or occasionally Cattle Egrets!). Inside the centre there are otters, flamingos and lots of other lovely birds too.

As a member of Slimbridge we already knew how good the centre is so we went to the Really Wild Weekend expecting great things and we weren't disappointed. The whole event ran smoothly and without any problems which can't be easy with wild animals and children all together. The staff involved were all very friendly and informative and were really... Our first visit, we went on the 10:30 guided walk which was informative, the wardens commentary during the wild bird feed a the end of the day was informative.

We spent a full day wandering through the collections of birds from around the world & from hide to hide to watch the wild birds. There were plenty of hides to visit. A fascinating variety of birds can be seen. We stayed to watch the wild birds being fed- a marvellous sight. The restaurant offered a good selection of appealing... More

Bewicks arriving by the day and as always great to observe especially the feed in front of large windows at 1600hours. My only complaint is that as supporters and members of the WWT we have to pay full and pretty hefty prices in the newly re furbished cafe. What about a cheaper dish of the day for all.

Not sure what I was expecting, thought there would possibly be larger areas for the birds. Not too happy seeing how the animals faired. The area for the otters was quite small. Plus the voles etc.. The cream tea was OK a bit solid... Probably would not visit again.

Dear PortisheadTraveller, Thank you so much for taking time to share your recent visit to WWT Slimbridge Wetland Centre. I have taken to time to liaise with my colleagues across the grounds and wider reserve to fully understand your concerns. As such I am pleased to report back that our bird exhibits are very lightly stocked and well within BIAZA... More

The area is well laid out and at certain times shows are put on with the otters. The walks are marked well and the nature at certain spots are documented on readable plaques. The area is laid out flat so wheel chairs can easily be pushed around. The food in the cafe is simple but satisfying, although pricey for what... More

Slimbridge is part of the WWT, having been set up by Sir Peter Scott. What a difference since I first visited many years ago. There are numerous lakes and pools and generally each has a theme with differing birds, from many parts of the world. There are also lots of bird watching hides again each with a differing theme. It... More
