Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

A wonderful hike and and a fantastic view!! Wow!
The beginning is a bit more tough and challenging since it is very steep, after some time though the path and later the road rise quite moderately and become very enjoyable.
Comfortable and non-slippery shoes very recommended.

Towering 900m above the town of Mestia is the cross that is visible from everywhere in the valley. Follow the footpath out of town towards the cross. The first part of the climb is very steep. Soon the path bends to the right across the hillside and becomes easier as it transitions into a 4WD track. You can follow this track all the way up to the cross. You move through farms, meadows, forests and cross numerous streams. The scenery along the way is breathtaking and you can see along the valley and up to the twin peaks of Mount Ushba (4700m) as you move around the hillside.
I tracked there in April and there was still a lot of snow to get through at the top. It took me three hours to get up and two hours to get down. At the top there is a lookout next to the cross that provides shelter if the weather turns. The views from the cross are sensational. I hope my photos do it justice.

Go there by walk, don´t be lazy. And continue to the lakes higher. Those views are worth it. Take the longer track from Mestia, it is much nicer.

It’s quite steep and tricky to find the right path at the beginning. But it’s easily doable in 3 hours. Add 2 hours more and you’ll reach Koruldi lakes. The views are amazing everywhere
