Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We live camping so were eager to try camping in Malta. First couple of nights we stayed at the so called "only camp site in Malta -aka @Vincopolis".
We weren't impressed so after a little research we moved to Gozo staying at a non official campsite scouts were using near Azure window. Amazing place there's an inland sea and the amazing blue hole was snorkelling paradise - especially after all other tourist left.
Then to comino- found a campsite was marked on the google maps so went for it. It was about a half hour walk from drop off point at blue lagoon. (Mini bus available about 5 euro per person). Great basic camp site. Quite busy when we arrived so didn't get any shade to pitch near. Great shower facilities and a lovely beach close by. Only down side was heat in August and spikes seeds from trees really stick in your feet. Blue lagoon really busy but calms down about 6. If you can swim to opposite side (community) snorkel through the cave - amazing. Hope this helps : )

Not all tours stop here so choose carefully. We saw the madness of the Blue Lagoon and chose Santa Marija instead for space and peace. Great sun beds right on the shore line, a fantastic good kiosk run by really friendly and chilled staff creating great food in generous amounts. We loved it - but keep it quiet!

We ended up here after getting quickly fed up with blue lagoon and the millions of people.
We took a Jeep ride here for €5 return.
This beach is calm and serene.
Lovely little kiosks with friendly and chatty staff.
Space to put down your towels.
Excellent snorkeling - even saw a small octopus

No overcrowding, no abusive prices, FREE restrooms & showers, genuine food, FREE sandy beach & camping site... There's no good reason NOT to go there!

This is the only sandy beach in Comino. was empty in November, but I can imagine it gets crowded in the Summer.

A lovely bay that I fear may be going the same way as the Blue Lagoon. Now has sunbeds from one end to the other, and a shuttle bus for people at the Blue Lagoon who are too lazy to walk the half mile to the beach.

We were on a kayak tour and went to the bay. Beautiful water, not overcrowded, and great marine life to see when snorkelling.
Dont go to the Blue Lagoon - this is 100x better.

This is the more peaceful and serene place on Camino and there is a sandy beach. Walk in the opposite direction of the St. Mary's Tower and you will eventually reach it. Between the Blue Lagoon and Santa Maria bay is a lot of arid, dusty trail, kind of like a desert. Make sure you have a lot of water, a hat, and sunscreen.

This is a really lovely beach, it is worth a visit and it's definitely a good alternative if the blue lagoon is too busy.

Thank you for discovering also Santa Maria Bay on Comino. The main attraction on the island of Comino is most definitely the unique Blue Lagoon. As discovered by you Comino offers also other experiences. The Blue Lagoon remains a must do experience for anyone visiting the Maltese islands. There is much more to be discovered on the island of Comino and Santa Maria Bay is one of these. In contrast to Blue Lagoom; other attractions such as Santa Maria Bay; Santa Maria Tower; Sants Marija caves; are not marketed and hence most day trippers to Comino miss out on discovering other hidden gems.
