About
Deep Med freediving was established out of our nostalgic love for breath-holding and underwater play. But as exhilarating as it is to take the plunge and experience the silence and intimacy of the sea, Freediving is an activity that should progress slowly so that you can truly enjoy it. This is why we do things differently and require a minimum of five days when enrolling in any course or coaching program. The opportunity for one-off divers who are experienced and wish to train is possible. The average two or three day course, especially as a beginner, is not sufficient enough to grasp freediving skills. We want you to get the most out of your freediving education. During the five days, we will not only learn how to freedive, but also explore Gozo & and it’s many dive sites to include more time in the water adding more adventure to your freediving holiday.

excellent tuition and breakdown of key parameters that one needs to understand in order to freedive effectively and safely. fantastic locations at short drive away from the centre (gozo is very small) that can easily be changed in function of weather conditions. would definitely recommend taking a course with Deep Med whether for an introduction to freediving or more advanced divers that are looking to get some training/coaching in & enhance their apnea performance. Fabrice is a great guy & passionate about what he does - you are in good hands!

The instructor, the courses, the diving spots, all went above my expectations! Everything is done to ensure that the courses and open water sessions goes in the best possible way and in optimal conditions. What I appreciated was that Fabrice took the time to give personalized feedback to allow me and the other students to progress quickly. I chose the begginer package which includes the Wave 1 course + 2 days of coaching. I recommend this package if you want to have the opportunity to apply what you have learned during the first 3 days or if you just want to enjoy diving in little longer ;) The five days went by very quickly. Gozo is a wonderful island and the diving courses with Deep Med made it even more beautiful. Can't wait to come back!

I recently did my freediving level 1 with fabrice and also stayed at his house in Gozo. His house was beautiful, really clean and had a really friendly and welcoming atmosphere. It also made life so easy as we just jumped in the car in the morning with him and the other guests doing the course. The course itself was amazing. Everyday would start with a breathing and stretching session which really made a big difference to my diving, making sure I was nice and relaxed and ready to dive. We would then do some static work and also go over the physiology of diving and how to equalise. The teaching was very clear and relevant and helped me feel more confident when getting into the water.
Then we would go to the various beautiful spots around gozo to put it all together in our open water sessions.
There was never more than 3 of us to a line which meant you get very personal teaching and coaching and always feel very safe and reassured. Fabrice could tell I was a bit nervous at time and would try and help me work through this.
I also did a couple of extra coaching days which were great to really practice and put together everything you’ve learnt.
I had the best week and cannot wait to go back. I would definitely recommend deep med diving and fabrice to any newbies or experienced freedivers!

Always wanted to do a freediving course and so glad I booked with Deep Med. Very personalised course by Fabrice who is a brilliant teacher and coach. Super competent yet humble, he went the extra mile in all aspects. Fully appreciated what I wanted to get out of it and allowed me to achieve more than I imagined, striking a perfect balance between pushing and making the course a lot of fun. Could not recommend him more! I also fully recommend the Molanchov Wave q course for beginners over 5 days, which gives plenty of time for practice and play. Staying in his house rounded it off nicely, not having to travel each day.

I spent 5 days of free diving with Fabrice. I had only been free diving once before, so was quite a beginner. Fabrice's coaching was always patient, and set me up for success by making sure I was focusing on the right things, and learning the right techniques when I needed them.

By the end of the trip, I was able to comfortably and calmly free dive down to 24m - which was a great personal achievement for me! Unlocking the ability to "relax" all the way down is probably the part I'm most grateful for.

I have and will continue to recommend Fabrice to anyone who wants to take some free diving coaching on the beautiful island of Gozo!

We had a day of freediving with Fabrice in July 2020. We were total beginners.
We had a fantastic day; it was safe, fun, relaxing and exciting.

Because this was during Covid 19 we were particularly impressed by the responsible approach Fabrice took to cleaning the wetsuits and equipment with plenty of Dettol disinfectant and water.

Fabrice is a great teacher, he is extremely supportive, encouraging and knowledgeable. He took us through relaxation and breathing techniques, followed by breath-holding in the pool, and diving deep in the open sea in the afternoon.
He took photos with his action camera while we were diving so we got to keep the memories without worrying about equipment.

We are familiar with Malta and Gozo and would definitely recommend Fabrice's place in Gozo as a great place to freedive.

If you are looking for a course in Malta, I would definitely recommend Deep Med Freediving! Located at Gozo, it gives you the opportunity to enjoy amazing diving sites and beaches, away from the crowded main island.

I took an SSI Level I course by Fabrice. He is a great instructor who will have a good feeling for how to motivate you and enable you to reach your limits while keeping you safe and comfortable. He has a great passion for freediving and a great respect for the sport. I learned a lot on the course and enjoyed my time to the max. Fabrice knows the best places to pick for water sessions in Gozo. He keeps the participant number low which gives you the chance to have sessions fit to your individual needs.

If you have the chance to combine the course with 1-2 days of extra coaching, that really rounds up the experience!

I signed up for free diving coaching with Fabrice and I only wish I did this earlier! Right from the beginning when I reached out, the communication and booking were so smooth and efficient - Fabrice was very responsive and flexible which made my trip planning super easy.

I came with little experience with free diving. Having a rough idea of what I wanted to hone, we worked together to better understand where I was at and how was my equalization skill before the first dive, and we just built out our diving plan and goals from there after each session. I love that Fabrice really cares about your development as a free diver and always strives to help you figure out the problem, the cause, and how to make improvement on it. Not to mention the positivity and energy from Fabrice that made each dive really enjoyable. In the end, I felt great improvement in my free diving and we also got to explore some caves and swim-throughs that were not only fun but put what I was practicing into context so the result really just came out naturally.

Another huge plus is to stay at Fabrice’s cozy Gozitan home in Xaghra. Very quiet, peaceful neighborhood with great restaurants in walking distance. What else can I say - it was such a great experience, along with the beautiful souls I’ve met there!! I’m coming back very soon. Highly recommend diving with Fabrice if you want to explore the magical deep blue and feel the calmness it brings to you :)

I've been swimming all my life - enjoy snorkelling and scuba but never learnt how to really hold my breath. We thought why not give freediving a try and our biggest regret is not doing it sooner with Fabrice.

We did the 1-day course and he was able to give us tons of information but in an easy and fun way. Through relaxation techniques, he built our confidence and made us feel super safe.

He took us to the coolest spot in Gozo and we freedived on top of a wreck! We left with the biggest smiles on our faces and will definitely go back for more training with Fab.

Highly recommended!

Fabrice was an awesome coach and instructor. You can see his passion for freediving and wanting you to share in this amazing experience. Coming up from a dive where you hit a new personal best or improve on a technique you were working on; he was excited as you were if not more. This excite is contagious just makes you want to keep diving. Fabrice is great at coming up with multiple ways of explaining things until clicks and makes sense and able to perform the task at hand. He was one of the best instructors I have ever had. If you are looking for a freediving course or coaching, you need to check out Fabrice.
