This was my main recollection from a visit to Malta 30+ years ago and I wanted to return to see it again. The murals on the ceiling left an impression. It was nice to be able to sit in the pews and take in the splendour of it all. I marvel how they were able to paint the murals so... More

Lovely picturesque Cathedral tucked away in an impressive square . Full of incredibly beautiful statues and paintings. Well worth a visit but combine it with a trip to the museum adjacent to the Cathedral .

This is the main church of Mdina, an exquisite Maltese architectural masterpiece! Beautiful foul frescos, icons, marble floors and amazing altar. Not to be missed!

This is another fabulous piece of Maltese architecture that is stunning and to me very Italian. Loved all the churches and cathedrals in Malta and this one didn't disappoint.

One of the many places that we visited during our trip to Malta. Excellent building with lots of history in the main city. Amazing places to visit. Would visit again.

A cathedral that looked like a theatre in places, very different from the norm. Beautiful and majestic, with lovely inlaid floors and paintings everywhere.

The tourist entrance is around the side, opposite the museum,... More

After visiting Saint John cathedral in Valletta it is hard to enjoy any othet church. Still this one is nice, the entrance fee is cheaper and allows to visit a small museum across the street.

The cathedral is beautiful - from the columns to the paintings all around... at Christmas time there is also a crib with figurines from the 18th century...

Visiting churches are usually interesting to me for about 5 minutes before I feel it's time to move on, but the display of the Shroud of Turin was fascinating. The cloth and print of Jesus is incredible and it was lovely to contemplate near it for a few minutes.
