This church is very pretty & a true feast for the eyes. Very peacefull walking around and soaking in the atmosphere. As much as I enjoyed it I did prefer my visit to St Mary's (the Mosta Dome) if you have time do visit both.

If you are in Medina then visit this cathedral. It may seem a bit sparse at first glance but look closely at some of the pictures specially the icon of Mary in the small chapel.

Today i visted Metropolitan Cathedral, as stated it has a €5 entrance fee. It is quite beautiful inside and is worth seeing. I'm not a very religious person in general but have respect for places which are spiritual or allow quiet meditation. This was an interesting Cathedral, but suppose the review was only average as it was compared to the St John's in Valleta. St John's offers a audio device as part of the price and this definitely enhances the experience

...to a square (actually two of them) which is more elegant and beautiful than the church itself. The interior is military baroque.

The Metropolitan Cathedral can't match the glorious bling of its counterpart in Valletta, but it is a more staid celebration of the great and the good of Maltese history through its myriad floor of colourful and beautifully inlaid tombstones. There is even one without a date of death for a man who is still alive! Set in a peaceful square... More

This was another beautiful and ornate cathedral in Malta. We were fortunate to see a baptism happening while we visited - a nice reminder that it's not just a tourist attraction.
