The museum is open from 10:00 till 16:00, entrance fee 12€ per person. I really wanted to see the museum, but the service is absolutely terrible. You travel all the way from the continental Europe to Mdina to see the museum and they don’t let in during the open hours just because you are one person and they are lazy to let you in. They are inside the museum, but they are simply lazy to let you in. First they ask you to pay extra and when you agree they simply send you away to wait for an hour until someone else will come. Museum is open from 10:00, I am willing to pay for an entry, why should I wait? Maybe I will be the only visitor today or who knows how long I should wait... Terribly rude and such a disappointment.…

This is a beautiful house which has been lovingly renovated to bring out the best features of its historical past which dates back to roman times. The house has many architectural features which have been well preserved and turned into the highlight of the rooms as well as many beautiful pieces of art both ancient and modern. I was given a tour in English but have been told that the guide will also do the tour in Italian, french and other languages as well as in Maltese. My favourite part to see in the house was the cellar which has been turned into a chapel where I was told a Christmas mass is held annually and this beautiful cellar is decorated with candles and Christmas decorations over that period. This is a real gem of a house and must be seen to be truly appreciated, as a lot of love has been put into this family run home.…

We so enjoyed our visit to Casa Bernard we were shown around by the delightfully engaging and informative Frances. There were just 4 of us in our group and it felt like visiting a friend and being shown round their home – of course we don’t have any friends with the treasures that Casa Bernard holds. It’s a must see if you are in Malta and Rabat itself is very interesting – AND if you are in need of refreshment there’s a lovely cake shop along the street from Casa Bernard. Enjoy it – we did!…

Just Think! You ring the doorbell, it’s answered by a delightfully welcoming gentleman who says he will show you round his family home. The history! In the fabric of the property, the furniture, the art and all the items displayed together with family photos. A fantastic hour and a half, where we also met his equally welcoming wife who completed our tour. Don’t miss this treat in Rabat. And just to finish....a fab patisserie cafe down the road called cafe Santa Lucia....oh my word....…

I can't tell you how much we enjoyed our visit to Casa Bernard. Ringing the doorbell and being given a warm welcome gave us the feeling that we were visiting a home, rather than "an historic house" and that feeling continued throughout our visit. Just turning up on the doorstep, the two of us were given a guided tour by a family friend, as the owners were unavailable at the time. She showed us through the rooms with an enthusiastic and knowledgeable commentary and was able to answer our every question. The paintings and objets d'art are beautifully displayed and obviously a great deal of thought and care has been lavished on every detail. The house feels loved and lived in. For the price of €8 pp it's an amazing walk through history. Before we left we met the owner, Georges Magri, who was so friendly and made us feel as though we were doing him a favour in visiting; when, in fact we felt that we should be thanking him for the privilege. Do visit if you have chance; you won't be disappointed.…
