Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

On entering the town from Triton^s fall , the first building you will see on the right is the Parliament. To be honest I passed by and didnt realise it was the Parliament building. It didnt have the look of an official parliament . However, it is a nice building modern building in a historical city.

As you enter Valletta , coming from the Triton fountain - past the main gate of the city, you shall find this building.
When I first visited Valletta in 2011 in was still under construction - it was finished in 2015 - so I was interested to see what was the result.
Should you ask me , the architects managed to integrate this newly build Parliament building into the structure of the city of Valletta and to be honest it does fit. As least as I see it, this integration of modern into the Old city of Valletta was/is a success.
So when you are in the area, check it ...

Some of the new building in Valetta add to the historic and Baroque heritage e.g. the new Triton Fountain but this is just ugly and completely out of sympathy with its surrounding.

Nice modern building designed by Renzo Piano... successfully enbodied in the historic city of Valetta.. Situated near the main entrance of the barracks with nice urban design.

This building designed by Renzo Piano, was built between 2011 and 2015. It forms part of the new gate into Valletta. Either side of the gate is a flight of stairs. The right hand flight takes you up towards the Upper Barrakka Gardens. Next to this flight, is the new parliament building, which for a modern construction has been somewhat sympathetically done. The stonework is of a similar type and colour to the older buildings and the first wall has that fortress like appearance. The rest I am sure will blend in, in time.

At a cost of around 90 million Euros however, one wonders if the money could not have been better spent on the island's appalling roads. After all, the Grand Master's Palace has served the politicians well since 1921 and the parliament building benefits but a few; whereas the roads are beneficial to locals and tourists alike.

The parliament building just inside the city walls is modern and in my opinion, very cool. It is completely juxtaposed to the rest of the city but this makes it even more striking and the fabric of the building is sympathetically coloured so it doesn’t stick out like a sore thumb, it just slots in nicely to what is a beautiful area.

The building divides opinion, but I think the well known burger chain opposite is more of a blot on the landscape than this wonderful example of modern architecture!

The New Parliament is a stunning modern building on Republic Street. It is the work of architect Renzo Piano and opened in 2015. Quite controversial as it does not match with the historical sites in the surrrounding. Gateway to the main street and other sites.
