The entrance is a small door in a side street, leading into a fairly dark entrance area with information in several languages. No entrance fee. Moving through to the main part of the church (and I suspect some of the more negative reviewers missed this bit!) is quite amazing. The interior is massive and lavishly decorated. Access by stone stairs... More

You may just as easily miss the very modest entrance to St. Paul's Shipwreck, as it is on the side of the actual front of the church. Inside, there's plenty to enjoy for lovers of architecture and decorative art. It's very dimly lit though (Which is just as well, because - officially - photography is not allowed). You can take... An unusual church worth a few minutes. They claim to have some St. Paul relics. over-the-top art. And it's free.

Very inauspicious frontage down a side street. You could walk past it and assume that it is the grander church at the end of the street. Was undergoing restoration when we visited. Inside the Church has a dull almost dusty look about it. It contains a couple of gruesome relics of St Paul. You will see it sign posted, so... More

I didn't get to enter in the co-cathedral because I was wearing a tank top and some woman at the door shouted at me to go cover myself. I was so disappointed I almost skipped this one - would have been a mistake. The dude at the entrance welcomed me like I have never seen anybody in a church do,... More

I was walking past and hesitated and the man managing the church invited me in. I explored the crypt and the church. The atmosphere is most interesting - almost like being under the sea.

The church is dark and being restored, not very beautiful to my taste. But it certainly has historical value.

Another half hidden delight off a side street. Enter and take a step back in time, beautiful period architecture and artworks. Not busy when we went so all the better to explore without interruption. Please be aware of the restrictions on photography.

Sorry - I didn't enjoy this church as much as I thought I would. Too dark and claustrophobic for me. Stick to St John's Cathedral.

The old, downtown, section of Valletta on the Island of Malta is beautiful, filled with history, great architecture and a fascinating blend of cultures, both visually and in fact. The Saint Paul Church in Valletta is very beautiful, authentic and offers a beautiful gallery of fine religious art. Saint Paul is one of several cultural monuments that connects Malta to... More
