The Palace was being renovated in advance of an EU heads of state conference, so it was not really a good time to visit. A lot of areas were either not accessible or being redecorated. There are superb collections of armour and artillery from the time of the knights of Malta which were very interesting. We will re-visit another time,... More

The state rooms of the Grandmaster's Palace are breathtaking; the walls and ceilings are completely adorned with brightly coloured paintings and there is a lot of grandeur to be observed, as well as a beautiful small garden. The armoury was also interesting with an extensive collection of weapons and armour of various types. Good value for money.

In winter 2017 only the Armoury was open at The Grandmaster's Palace, which was the main attraction we wanted to see. €4.50 with concessions for students and over 60s. What a priceless collection of armour, guns, swords, maps and paintings. The headphones, included in the price, give great detailed, yet interesting information from the start of production of armour through... More

An Armoury wouldn't normally be our thing but we were persuaded by other reviews. We had it down as a rainy day activity but we're so glad we visited. This is an amazing and extensive collection of armour that takes you through the evolution in design of armour. The audio guide added a lot to the information and our experience.... More

During our visit the State Rooms were closedt, but we were able to see the armory, and it was FANTASTIC. There was so much to see that even though there were only two rooms, we spent over two hours there looking and reading displays. It is not interactive (except for one display showing the weight of helmets), so younger children... More

If you come to Malta I am sure you shall come to Valletta, Malta's Capital City. Among the treasures there one will find the Grandmaster's Palace. Many important things happened inside this palace and at the St. George's Square which is opposite the Palace. After the nights left Malta and no longer the Grandmaster, it used to be the sede... Unfortunately this time the State Rooms were not open for the public. The explanation is the EU presidentship of Malta in 2017 - the restoration is not finished yet: But the Armory is open, and if you are interested in arms - this is a wonderful collection.

Grandmaster Palace are located in the center of Valetta. They are changing guards just outsite of entrance. Something that must be seen.

We were a little disappointed that the state rooms of the GrandMaster's Palace were closed for restoration ... but we were more than compensated by visiting instead the Armoury, which houses a VAST display of armour and weaponry used over the centuries, and a great deal of historical information about the subject and Malta's history, provided by a recorded tour... You can get a device similar to a mobile phone and press the number of the exhibit you want to learn more information! It is not a big museum but for the price of 6 euro or less if you are a student, it is a must see place! Also, the personnel is friendly to the tourists!!
