Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Magnificent way for you to enter this wonderful city and explore all the wonders that it holds whilst wondering the narrow alleys.

Very impressive entrance to the old historic city of Valletta.
Get beyond the walls and explore the narrow streets, bars and restaurants within

As you arrive from the direction of Floriana - passing the Triton fountain- you shall arrive to the city gate of Valletta ... well from a distance it doesn't resemble to any traditional gates to fortified cities.
As you look at is "just" an opening in the city walls between the bastions and walls. However it does get a sort of a "modern" look to it.
When I've been to Valletta lest time - more than a decade ago - it was still under construction - and to be honest today it still looks unfinished to me - still , it is worth to stop for some pics - the views of the city walls , from the bridge are very nice.

Not far from the Valletta fountain is an open-air restaurant serving mainly traditional Italian food. The gnocchi I had was excellent, the waiters attentive.Don't miss it if you're in the area.

We were dropped by the Bolt at the Triton fountain. The new modern gate to the city is nice and looks well but I think I’d prefer a more accent one given the cities history. Valletta is a very nice place to spend the day.

Having just one day in Valletta we attempted to cram as much as we could in the time permitted. I had downloaded a city walking guide that certainly helped . We started at Triton Fountain , which was impressive when the fountain flowed -and I'm sure that much more when lit up in the evening - through the city gates which are different to what we expected from an ancient city.
We passed the parliament building , and went to the cathedral ( impressive). Valletta is a city that you can walk, and amble about , look at the various buildings and architectures. We had hoped to visit the Malta Experience however it was closed due to an EU summit.
We will certainly return to Valletta.

From Bugibba, Valletta is easily accessible by bus with a fare of €2 valid for 2 hrs! The city is steeped in history. The layout, the gate, the architecture and the monuments, all were vivid reminders of what has gone on before. Very striking are the 2 live flames in memory of the 2 World Wars. The waterfront is quite popular for cafes, bars and restaurants. This city is a very, very hilly place. Lots of ups and downs. Felt that there were more ups than downs. The 2 Barrakka gardens were particularly challenging to get to. Good walking shoes are essential. The republic square is worth a visit.

Valletta City Gate(way) is a modern and possibly unattractive entrance to the old town. I prefer the historic look. Nice views down Republic Street ….but Burgerking ! Come on Town Planners, keep in more original!

A great entrance although always crowded, it is the gate of Valletta, surrounded from walls and historical buildings and right in front of the big fountain
