Perfect place to experience the isolation of the remote Faroes.

Taking the ferry out and the helicopter back from Fugloy was a highlight of the Faroe Islands. After arriving in Hattarvik on a bumpy boat ride, I hiked over the hill to Kirkja (the other settlement). The villages were beautiful, with lots of sheep along the way. Flying over the Northern Islands by helicopter was spectacular, and well worth the planning to get there.

Barren, Cold Island
May 2016
There is not much here to recommend it. The island is barren. There are almost no people in residence. The are no facilities. You can go by helicopter a few days a week but you are stuck there. The boats stop when you call and ask them to get you, but you have to spend 6-7 hours after you are dropped off for the return boat. It is wickedly cold and windy. Better to take the ferry from Havnnasund round trip and not get off. You'll see the island and you can hike elsewhere.

Amazing views
Aug 2014 • Couples
Although remote, Fugløy is well worth a visit, mainly because of the scenic boat trip to the island. The views are truely amazing and breathtakingly beautiful.
An option is to take the morning ferry out, and catch the lunch time helicopter back. If you want to stay the night, there is a B&B in Kirkja, one of the two tiny villages on the island, Fuglurin B&B. The owner, Amalia, is very nice, friendly and service minded (but speaks very little English), and the B&B itself is clean and functional with comfortable beds (if you're lucky, you get a room with an amazing sea view). Amalia is also happy to cook dinner for you - I did not try it myself, but the other guests during our stay praised the dinner and were very happy with it.
