Visible from far and wide yet so close you could almost touch it, the emblem of Liechtenstein towers over Vaduz on a rock terrace which can be reached along a romantic footpath. The castle was first built some 700 years ago. Since 1712 it has been in the possession of the Prince of Liechtenstein. Furthermore, since 1938 it has been the residence of the prince’s family, so it is not open to the public. The 12th century keep and the structures on the east side are the oldest parts of the castle.

The castle is very interesting in appearance. It is set up on the hill and you can see it from various parts of the city. We had a car and drove up there. Unfortunately, you can not go inside. One major warning - the streets...More

We stopped here for a quick stop on our trip to the south of France. It was raining so we just checked out the castle from the road. The roads are tight and hard to get around. Great picture opportunity.

It is no wonder such a minute destination has almost nothing to offer sightseeingwise; therefore, the exterior visit to the palace (it is not a castle!) is a must! From "downtown" Vaduz one can follow the signs and walk up the hill, not that steep...More

We spent some nice time in Vaduz and decided to visit the castle as well. The castle can be seen from many parts of Liechtenstein and even from neighbouring Switzerland. But it still nice to view it from as close as you can get. We...More

You can see this castle in almost any place in the country. Please read YOU CAN NOT GO INSIDE THE CASTLE. This is still used today and the royal family doesn't want you going in. I tried lol

We didn't go up to the castle but still is a very nice view. If close to Vaduz it's nice to stop by and wander around the city and look up at the castle.

It is never open to the public, although once a year, 15th of August, during the national holiday there’s a party in the gardens (this is what I was told).
