Famagusta wall is a good place to go to get the idea of the culture. There is many places to park and free as well. Some of the views are amazing and really get a feel of the area.

A mixture of well maintained or falling apart ancient structures of churches-turned-mosques-turned-churches - definitely worth the visit. A special place that must be visited is the Hamam Bar, which is the old Hamam but now run as a bar/restaurant, wonderful to see it from inside...More

This is an ancient city with a very complex history which is quite close to Salamis. Walking inside and around the Venetian walls is definitely worthwhile. There are ruins of gothic churches all around or just arches and walls that suggest a more vibrant cityscape...More

Lots of little old fashioned shops and restaurants, impressive walls, some cannons, a mosque, street entertainers, fantastic turkish meze restaurants and absolutely unbelievable cake and turkish delight shop - the creations are amazing to look at. They take euros and turkish lira in this area.

We could only find one place to stay in Famagusta itself. If you want a nice hotel stay at the beach hotels nearby - if you can put up with anything stay at the terrible (but cheap) Portofino hotel. Its quiet enough and the... More
