We had never been in a mosque before. This old 18th century Mosque houses the tomb of the prophet's stepmother and is, it seems, held in high regard. An important place of pilgrimage in Cyprus. Attractive building in a great location. An enjoyable visit taking less than an hour.

Although the Mosque is not extra special, it is in a nice spot away from the noise of the main road & bustle of Larnaca. It is right by the salt lake which is spectacular in late autumn when the hundreds of pink flamingos are there. A pleasant place to walk around. A piece of natural nature. There is also... More

The mosque seemed like an oasis giving the impression of extreme calmness and tranquillity. It was a nice place to visit no far from the city centre by car and only took about 30 minutes to see.

The moskee itself is for me not special, even not beautiful or impressive. But the place where it is built is peaceful and relaxing. It's at the salt lake. Those who like cats, there you see more cats than you can imagine. Its not a must to go to the moskee but in combination with a wonderful walk along the... More

Worth to go just for the amazing views. Easy to reach from the highspeed road. Nice to walk around the lake and see it from a bit farther

This mosque, the 4th in importance mosque of the Muslims is located 5km West of Larnaca City Centre and was built in 648 AD over Umm Haram's tomb, a relative, according to tradition, of the Prophet Mohammed. This is the fact that Hala Sultan, the aunt of Prophet Mohammed died there when the Arabs conquered Cyprus the year 647. The... More

We were on our way to see the pink flamingos, but today they were not at home. So instead we stopped off at this small church which looked picturesque BT the salt lakes, unfortunately the tranquility was broken by flights into the local Larnaca airport. Also, next to the church was what can only be described as a wild cat... More

The mosque is situated in a beautiful setting on the Salt Lake. The view of the mosque from the lake is stunning. I came here with my family for Friday prayer. We were very much welcomed and were also provided with free lunch. The prayer service was both in Turkish and English. There are many cats roaming around which the... More

The cat colony is cared for by The Friends of Larnaca. There are around 160 cars. The sight of so many cats in one location is quite a surprise, when you come please bring some dry food or cans of cat food or some drybedding
