Overall it’s a nice place I wasn’t keen on the smell and the rubish in the side of the lake is not really want I wanted to see the flamingos are the only thing that impressed me

This could be a nice place to take a stroll. Easy to reach by bus (it is on the way to the airport). The hype about the flamingos is more than in reality. I didn't see any in February although they mentioned there would be...More

We parked in the gravel lot just east of the airport and walked around the eastern and northern part of the lake to see the flamingos. They generally stay in the shallow bays at the north end. So the best approach is either park at...More

Especially good in spring. I took a good walk from the bus stop next one after Mckenzie beach stop up to Sultan Tekke Mosque and it was very refreshing. In spring (end of February) there were flowers (even orchids), flamingos and other wildlife. In some...More

I cycled around the lake. It was a day after some heavy rain and the path was easy to follow but was in a poor state following the downpours. Some sections totally submerged. On the plus side the vegitation was lush and colourful. Flamingos from...More

A sight you would not expect to see outside Africa. Big flocks of flamingos wading and grazing. Well worth stopping the car and walk down to the lake edge in a couple of places and watch them. Unfortunately all too far away for a decent...More

This is a great place to visit in spring, when the lake is visited by hundreds of flamingos and the vegetation is lush. The pathways are good and the terrain is flat, making it a good destination for those who can't climb mountains. It is...More

In the winter, migratory birds come here. We went to try and photograph some. The birds are smart; they stay in the middle of the lake. But is is a great walk around the perimiter.

Driving by this lake is a very nice experience, you can also walk by it which makes a nice trip. Flamingos live in the lake and you might be able to spot them if they're close to the shore.

We were aiming to see the flamingos, as some reviews noted that there were none. It was a pleasure to see them. We parked at the mosque and walked further down (left of the mosque) and saw the flamingos. You can walk further to get...More
