The collection was initiated by the enlightened Demetrios Pierides in the 19th century and has been systematically enriched. The Pierides Museum is conveniently located in the commercial center of the city of Larnaka, parallel to the sea front. It can be characterized as one of the most important private museums of Cyprus, since the collection contains a significant and characteristic presentation of the civilization of Cyprus through the centuries. The Archaeological Collection is housed in the former, colonial style, residence of the Pierides family, built in 1825, where the visitor can travel through the ages covering 9000 years of the island's history, beginning from Neolithic times through to the Bronze Age, Geometric, Archaic, Hellenistic, Roman and Byzantine - Medieval Age.A very important cartography collection of old maps and charts of Cyprus and the Eastern Mediterranean is also housed in the Museum, as well as the prized collection of Greek and Roman glassware.

Decent collection, but nothing to sweep you off your feet. But if you have some spare time and you want a break from sunbathing it's a nice way of filling the hours.

An impressive collection of antiquities preserved by Pierides family, especially ceramic art from Neolithic till Medieval ages. Also, I appreciated all the old maps exposed and the chronological table at the entrance. I must recognize I visited the museum just to refuge from the extreme...More

The museum is quite small but cost very little in our opinion and worth the price. The collection is quite old, most of the objects are pottery and statues.

There are a few artifacts in this museum, but not many. When I visited there was a contemporary exhibition on, which I wouldn't have chosen to see had I known beforehand.

As the main museum was closed we headed here, it is small but with a decent selection of exhibits, it will keep you busy for half an hour. There is no café but the garden is a nice place to sit.

It is worth 3 euros 💶 to see this great collection of really ancient antiquities. They are mainly dating back to Mycenaean era around 1500 BC. Quite good condition many of these. Pierides family have done a great service.
