- MariamSheffield, United Kingdom8 contributionsMust visit! The harbour is one of the best places in paphos with loads of vibrant restaurants. I don’t drink but the bars looked good too. There’s and ice cream place called ‘Frozen Scoops’ which I would highly recommend I went there every night and it’s open till late too. If you go to paphos this is a place you don’t want to miss! It’s right next to the the ocean so it’s great scenery whilst having lunch or dinnerVisited November 2023Travelled with friendsWritten 20 November 2023
- Maz A49 contributionsLovely day outIt took 40 minutes to walk here from my hotel. It was well worth the walk, it was a really interesting day out. I went to the castle, the archeological sites. There are plenty of bars and restaurants to sit and watch the world go by. You can also book excursions and boat trips from here. Visiting the harbour is a must if you are stayin in PaphosVisited March 2024Travelled soloWritten 13 March 2024
- Linda4natureSwansea County, United Kingdom113 contributionsJust lovely. We loved the harbour it is vibrant and the Fort is worth a visit. Free parking and lots of cafe's, which are expensive, but that's to be expected. It's right next to the Archaeological Sites. and has many craft stalls, and gift shops.Visited May 2024Travelled with familyWritten 15 May 2024
- Anan KhatibIsrael17 contributionsPaphos portThe port is beautiful and large, there are a lot of coffe shops, restaurants, different local shops, markets and stores. Especially the sunrise landscape in the port is fascinating. Hangout in the evening is a nice experinece. Most of the shops close 00:00.Visited July 2024Travelled with familyWritten 13 July 2024

The harbour offers excellent sea views and an outstanding range of restaurants and bars to suit every type of holidaymaker. The cost of food and drink is higher than that further inland but this is to be expected. Very clean and well maintained. Staff are welcoming and encourage you to eat/drink in their place but nothing too forceful or intimidating. Shops are much of a muchness (hats, magnets, swimwear and souvenirs).

The long esplanade has a thoroughfare between the sea on the left and a range of eating establishments, pharmacies, optical shops and general shops selling any number of tourist items on the right (really helpful shopkeepers). There is limited vehicular traffic, but beware of quad bikes, motorised scooters and some cars that are not always considerate. The walking area is level with caricature artists, hair braiding stands and a number of agents selling boat trips.
There are a variety of trips that include a "Jolly Roger" pirate masted sail ship, glass bottomed tours, and various tours on either a huge "Ocean Flyer" to the smaller boats. All have live music (bit loud for me) and sunbeds with plastic "mattress", so make sure you take a towel as it gets very hot and sticky. One can have either an open or shaded area to stay.
Our half day cruise had a wonderful and substantial freshly cooked sausage, burger, chicken and a variety of salad dishes. There was of course the free drinks throughout the trip, if you could navigate the pitch of the boat, as you made your way back to your seat. People on board had the option of a swim whilst lunch was being served.
Two negatives: the bus to collect us to take us to the boat was late (for us 50 minutes, but our friends waited 1 hour - punctuality is regarded as the English disease!!!!) and secondly, getting on as the last passengers meant that those who got off the coach first received the best sunbeds.

The harbour and port with the imposing castle is well worth a visit. Big shout out to Stevie's cafe (2nd pier) the start of the turtle watching/swimming tour (with George in the yellow boat) and the unofficial sponsor of the unofficial (1st Sunday of the month at 8am) parkrun. Pop in for a coffee / drink / toastie / full meal :)

Plenty of shops, restaurants, cafe's and ice cream places, there's a small castle there and various boat trips that you can go out on. Lovely to leisurely walk around, benches to sit down and admire the views. Has some beach off to the side although not big or long beaches. There's parking there and also easy to find if walking to it from hotels around the area. Access to a coastal path where you can then walk for quite a few miles down the coastline.

You cannot walk into the harbour along the front from the west as this is closed for about 4 miles. The roads in the old town are also dug up with access issues.
The harbour area is also being dug up, causing traffic to be rerouted along the pedestrian area through concrete bollards. Some streets of shops are completely closed. The views of the harbour from the harbour restaurants is obscured by 2mtr. high fencing.
If I had known about all these closures I would not have booked this holiday. In my opinion the description of this resort is misleading, and my holiday was spoiled because of it. the current works are due to end at the end of august with new works starting then.

Maybe my disenchantment with the Port is based on my perspective of Paphos being a poor replica of Benidorm in the 1980’s!
So many closed restaurants that do not look like they will reopen in the near future blight its appearance. Loads of restaurants still survive with really nice, polite and often funny, gentlemen - unusual as many other places seem to use young ladies - urging you into their particular establishments!
An empty castle that you should pay to enter for the view, apparently, and an archaeological museum are the only things to see apart from a few fishing boats (that do not seem to go out?) and a couple of tourist “drinking” boats - that disturb the coastal peace on a daily basis blasting out their version of music heavily driven by the bass!
Like Paphos itself, which seems to have lost most of its heritage buildings, new buildings are being built and older ones renovated often with great imagination and design.
This may well make it an attractive place to revisit but I fear by that time, Matron will not let me out of the home!!

Beware if you’re going to Paphos for a holiday. Much of the harbour area has been closed-off for some building works - apparently to the annoyance of local shops and café’s. We walk into town daily and every day they’ve closed off a bit more of the harbour. We walked into town today and we had to by pass completely a large section of the sea front that consisted of restaurants and shops. You’re still able to go on boat trips from the harbour but it’s a detour around the back road to get to where they depart.

Arrived here 26th April with Jet2 and unfortunately still here ,the place is a building site also it is rundown beyond belief, it looks like a third world country in some places, empty buildings everywhere, The place around the centre is completely dug up due to relaying sewer pipes and cables ,it is treacherous to walk anywhere and some places are an absolute shambles , Jet2 don't say anywhere in their blurb that there is works in progress ,it wasn't even mentioned at the greeting at the hotel . Lots people here are driving around like its a race track even though there is pedestrians everywhere. So called bar street is full of half empty rundown buildings and looks disgusting. If it wasn't for the weather which unfortunately hasn't been very good upto now (it's rained 3 days in succession) it's just a very bad Blackpool. If you are thinking of booking to come here I would advise you to book somewhere else.

The harbour is currently under redevelopment with all the shop and cafe signs being removed. The cafe owner informed us that the mayor wanted all the business to look uniform, we hope they do not spoil the place as they removed the sun awnings from the cafe fronts so there was little sun protection.
They are also in the process of building a multi storey block of flats which is over twice the hight of all the hotels so there must have been a change in building regulations so I hope the place does not start to look like Benedorm

Wednesday 5th October and we walked around Paphos Harbour.
The top of the harbour is lined with restaurants, they have people along the street attempting to lure visitors into their restaurant to eat and drink. We found some of it to be humorous banter others were a bit more aggressive.
There are some interesting features in the harbour, Paphos Castle, Old Fort Ruins, buildings and Sol Alter sculpture. There are views across the Bay, the Promenade and out to sea.
There were a number of modern built structures, including a restaurant and the Port Authority Building but they all appeared to be boarded up and abandoned. This gave the harbour area a bid of a depressed and rundown appearance. There were a number of buildings that looked some sort of shelters that people could wait in while waiting for the departure of their boat trips. These also looked unused. The public toilets, a bit smelly were open along the harbour wall.
The harbour was used mainly by small fishing boats and the Coast Guard vessels. The were a small number of private holiday yachts anchored up in the harbour.
There were a variety of boat trips available from here including the Pirate Ship, Zorky Submarine.
At the time of our visit there was not a great deal of boat activity going on but still worth a walk along.

Hi all,
Me and my girlfriend are planning on booking a holiday to Paphos from the 29th Oct to 5th Nov. I just wanted some advice on what the weather was like around this area at that time of year? Any advice would be much appreciated, thank you in advance!

Can anyone recommend a good Italian restaurant on the seafront area of Paphos harbour please?
Written 2 October 2018
Hi Cheryl
You might be as well as just having a look on TA and what reviews there are of restaurants in Paphos, there are numerous along the front.
Regards, John

Is the harbour the cheapest place to buy a boat trip plz
Written 19 June 2018
Go for Venus Sea Cruises and Captain Ahmed - brilliant trips and great value - not as pushy as the other companies and the M/S Christ. Adonis is a lovely boat
