I came across Panagia Chrysopolitissa Church by chance on a wander between the harbour and Kings Mall. The site is very mobility friendly with walkways to most parts of the site. The site also houses St Pauls Pillar as well. There was an Anglican service on at the church when I visited (in English). There is a platform that you... More

If you don't plan on visiting the Painted churches in the Troodos region, I would definitely urge you to go inside this church after exploring the archaeological excavations around it. It's free to enter and you can enjoy some of the Greek ortohodox frescoes inside.

A few hundred metres walk from town I would suggest parking in town and walking up The site is small. It has a walk way to keep you off the church ruins The church was much bigger and as the centuries have rolled on the church has got smaller but the outer features are still in situ, Saint Paul's pillar... Nice ruins which if anywhere else would be chargeable to visit - little run donw but seems to be work ongoing - guess its a sign of the economy at present - well worth a visit

In the last ten years so much more has been uncovered - and it is not finished yet. An interest in the development of Paphos is enhanced by viewing this area where three churches have been discovered. Also the baths are on the edge of the site, right in the centre of the old town.

Came across this place on my travels and was very nice for no charge for a walk around. The site has a deep history with the various stages of places of worship over the years, worth a visit.

I did not know what St Peter's pillar was, or that it had this delightful little church right in the epicentre. Surrounding the church are mosaics and pillars and uncovered sites of old roman villas. Inside the church are beautiful icons and traditional ecclesiastical woodwork. Stunning little find.
