- Revanite1 contributionVery interesting if you're not ignorant. It's fascinating to explore and imagine how they built these in 4th century BC is quite astounding. A bit of preparation for your trip is advisable. I.e. ensuring you have roaming enabled so you can scan the QR codes and interact with the displays. I would also advise not going In summer as it is exposed and hot. Winter time is perfect. The site is steeped in history and if you have an ounce of intellect and imagination you can try and imagine what it would have been like. Considering their age they are amazingly well preserved. Definitely deserves its world heritage site status. Even our 6 year old found it really interesting and was able to tell her friends about it she's memorised 5 interesting facts about it. It's so cheap to visit and if you bring an open mind you will enjoy the trip. If history and culture is not your thing then maybe you should stick to your catered self contained resort as you won't enjoy this.Visited December 2022Travelled with familyWritten 28 December 2022
- Robert hWorthing, United Kingdom96 contributionsThought provoking. We took a walk down the hill from a disappointing visit to the 'Old Town' Paphos to visit the `tombs. It's a bit of a misnomer, in that there weren't many or any kings buried there, but nevertheless impressive. The resting place of important people from a number of different origins, its amazing the amount of work that went into creating these tombs out of the rock. Some of them are enormous and very well preserved, with helpful information available at each tomb via your smart phone. It's a lovely location stroll around, with views into the Mediterranean, and totally befitting the final resting place for individuals held in high regard by their peers all the time ago.Visited February 2023Written 15 February 2023
- Russell FBrixham, United Kingdom80 contributionsTremendous Tour of the TombsAnother amazing archaeological site in Paphos! Allow plenty of time to make the most of exploring this expansive area. Just a few Euros to get in, you could spend a day here, but you need at least several hours to do it justice. I like the 3D scanning barcodes to gather the info. Awe inspiring if you like this kind of thing. Highly recommended.Visited February 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 21 February 2023
- Tonia1767Birmingham, United Kingdom6 contributionsWorth a visitThe tombs are so historic and I enjoyed the audio guide accessed on the free app. Followed the route round and there are a few sign posts. Perhaps could benefit from some info boards to capture peoples imagination and idea on the history. Amazingly well preserved considering. Its incredible what past humans were capable of and the rituals we have followed. Worth visiting and only 2.50€ each. I imagine it would be tough to negotiate in August heat but February/March was fine.Visited March 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 5 March 2023
- muffinxman13 contributionsA nice bit of history in the heart of PaphosA massive site, where you can clamber around an ancient necropolis like an explorer. Really enjoyed this and would recommend a visit. The site is a bit confusing as to where all the tombs were, but we managed to find them all in the end. Interesting to scan the QR codes on the way round to find out a bit moreVisited March 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 14 March 2023
- MissOzmaRugeley, United Kingdom9 contributionsWorth a trip, smaller site than the main Paphos archaeological siteAn excellent site, but I’d recommend going here before you go to the main Paphos archaeological site, as this one is smaller. If you only have time for one, go there. If you have more time, this stop is worth the visit too! There are plenty of areas here to explore.Visited March 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 14 March 2023
- Shelley SChichester, United Kingdom55 contributionsThe wild, unkempt nature of this historic place made it feel rather special.Loved this place. Spent several hours wandering at leisure, exploring some of the less obvious parts of the site. As we went fairly early in the day we managed to avoid it feeling too busy. I imagine spring is in many ways the best time to visit, as it felt like a cross between a nature reserve & an ancient site, with loads of flowers & butterflies in particular. Entrance fee is really good value.Visited March 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 21 March 2023
- Chris B14 contributionsVFM Archaeology at its bestDidn't know what to expect but after paying 2.5 euros we entered the grounds of the tombs and were knocked back at how interesting the tombs were. We spent a pleasant two hours exploring all of the tombs. Some well excavated others not so but the experience is well worth it. Only thing missing was a cafe. My top tip is make sure you take a bottle of water with you.Visited March 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 5 April 2023
- TheLegendPUnited Kingdom53 contributionsOK for the entry fee, not worth more.Wasn’t a expensive entry fee, €2.50 adult and baby was free. Not exactly pushchair / wheelchair friendly, and limited seating inside if you do want a sit down. No baby change facility, and cleaner (female) just randomly walked into the gents… Wife is into history and she enjoyed it.Visited April 2023Travelled with familyWritten 6 April 2023
- Robert BGlasgow, United Kingdom200 contributionsAll senses interaction with historyAmazing place to visit. Not many sites do you get to go into the tombs and really explore as much as you like. My wife and I were there for about 2 hours and only did the first 4 tombs. Need to visit again to see the rest of the site.Visited April 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 7 April 2023

This qualifies as “a pile of fallen down stones” in my book and i’m not keen on that sort of archaeology at the best of times.
It’s a large site bordered by the beach/sea. It isn’t actually the burial place of any Kings, just noblemen snd VIP dignitaries.
It’s cheap enough €2.5 and is a walk around a bit of local history if you are really interested in that.
Wouldn’t go back but it was ok.

It's cool to see the old tombs but you immediately learn that the tombs were not for kinds but rather likely for rich people. It's also unfortunate that there are no signs explaining each of the tomb, but rather you have to download the app that explains the details of each tomb. The tombs are cool to see as some are large and others small but ultimately there are no artifacts in the tombs. The architecture of the remains of the tombs is what is cool to see.
Note, this is all outdoors with no cover so if it's hot, bring water. I would recommend going in the morning or late afternoon when the sun is not right above you.
Going with a tour guide might also be helpful as they could explain more. we went on our own and without downloading the app, so while it was still cool, we likely missed details we should have paid attention to.

I did not have a good experience here after guided tour spent so long in the House of Dionysus.
We were ushered through very quickly at the entrance and went into the first ruin.
Was given the history which was interesting, but then ....We were told the place closed and had to leave.
No time to walk properly around the tomb of the kings and take in the amazing slights and history. I have been before so I know how amazing it is.
I was so disappointed ☹️

We found this site more interesting than the main archaeological site in Paphos. For 2 euros 50, you cannot go wrong! It does have some shadey spots although I imagine in the summer these can become very crowded so visit first thing in the morning.
I found the views across the sea very lovely. The site is rather large but not a great amount to see. Certain tombs where you can climb and go down the steps to see them were pretty great and if you like history, you will find those particularly interesting.
There’s a guide book you can purchase before going into the site (we chose not to do this as we had read up about the tombs before). There are QR codes you scan on the way around so that could be useful.
It was a pleasant hour or so spent there. I highly doubt you would need more than an hour here. I would wear sensible shoes as it can be quite rocky and un even in certain places.

Lots of reviews of this. I'd say that if you had limited time and had to make a choice, it would be better skipping this site for the (to my mind) much more interesting and expansive Kato Paphos archaeological Park. That being said, entry is very reasonably priced. The history of these tombs is fascinating and several are sufficiently intact to make an interesting couple of hours. November was a good time to visit as the site is very open. I recommend the guide book which was 5 Euros.

This could be brilliant but sadly it’s very disorganised. Signs are virtually non-existent. The audio guide is pretty good but they don’t point this out when you buy the ticket. Where are the signs and directions? Most people were just wandering around trying to find the next tomb. Damaged guards around the drops. Still, worth a visit, but temper expectations

Extremely difficult to navigate your way around this area. There are no leaflets just a board near the entrance with a very useless map drawn with no references on the map and no idea of what to see or which direction to go. We found the 1st QR code and scanned for the audio commentary but there were no kings buried there and we were underwhelmed and a bit bored. Stumbled across the 2nd QR code and lost interest. It is quite dangerous as there are steep steps which you can walk up and down and it is quite dangerous. We got bored and left along the bottom exiting through a turn style which took us onto the coastal path.

The tombs are in mixed condition and once you have looked at one or two of the best ones you will probably flag unless you're a specialist historian. There are no guides so buy a guide book or audio guide. Only €2.50 to enter. Wear sensible shoes.

It took me about an hour and a half to thoroughly take it all in. It may take you a bit more or less depending on how much you enjoy it. Take water and sun cream. Wear a hat. Trust me. You’ll need them.

Hi. If we drive is there parking please and cost. I will be coming with someone in 70s+ so think driving would be better if a lot of walking on site. Thank you.

I was there this summer (2021) with a car and there was no cost for parking only a nominal cost for entering the park. And it is a broad area. Some tombs have with steps (ancient and modern) to take you down inside which you don't have to take (I still recommend it if you enjoy ruins) and can view the ruins from above. You get a great view of the coast and sea while there. The breeze will be a relief to any heat.

We will be staying in Chlorakas, can we get there by bus and is there anywhere close to get a bite to eat?
MELD_10
Bournemouth, UK29 contributions
Buses are pretty easy. You’re not far away and the buses should be along the E701 fairly often. I don’t recall there being anywhere to eat immediately at or near the T of Ks but it’s a 10minute bus ride to the main bus centre of Paphos the a 2 minute walk to the seafront area.
how much does it cost to get in, staying nearby so don't need trip.

Yes, sure. But it will be difficult for see-siting. Many tombs are underground.
