Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Universalmuseum Joanneum is the common name for 6 different venues in Graz all related to arts and culture. If you have time, you can visit one of them located in the heart of Graz: Joanneumsviertel CoSa, the New Gallery Graz with Bruseum, a center of sciences activities and the museum of natural history. We bought a ticket to visit the 3 spaces but we didn’t have time to visit and practice all. If you have little time, just buy a ticket to visit one of them. The center of sciences activities offer a workshop where children can spend time to construct objects by themselves with recycled items. The museum of natural history displays an impressive collection of stones from everywhere.

During our stay in Graz we also visited the Universalmuseum Joanneum. This is a museum complex in the city center. Graz Card holders get free entry, otherwise it costs 11€. It is open daily except Monday from 10:00 to 18:00. We liked the interesting and varied exhibition quite a lot.

Great thing about this, is you can buy a universal ticket for several days and visit all the museums they offer (from one-entrance and one-day ticket up). It gets cheaper this way then paying for every one separately.

I love ART and this place was a high light of my trip to Graz. The building is located right across from the river that runs through Graz. The art in the museum was very interesting. The staff were welcoming and nice. I recommend all visitors to Graz put the Universalmuseum Joanneum Pass on their list as a place to visit.

In the last few years the museum has been completely renovated and now houses an excellent natural history section. This has interactive exhibits and offers something for the whole family. Fascinating place to spend an afternoon.

It's actually a network of museum in Graz (and a few outside of the city) with both old and modern art. A great idea if you have limited time in Graz, since you can buy 24-hour or 48-hour tickets valid for all museums (audio guide or guide is not included, you have to pay additionally at each museum). Since most of the interesting things to see are close to eachother, this makes perfect sense.

This is a network of Graz museums. The most important is at Schloss Eggenberg. The original 9th century Johanneum complex in the city was disappointing, at least for art. There is a Louvre type underground foyer space, with upstairs a well displayed but small collection of 19th century Austrian art and a contemporary tempoary exhibition. Not many people about. The other museums and palaces are more exciting

We loved all the museums housed under this umbrella. We had gone to Schloss Eggenberg and paid a few more euros to have this museum card. The palace took up most of the time, so we managed to see the folk museum which gave us a taste of Graz's cultural history.

Great weekend trip from Wien. Take the train for beautiful views of the Semmering pass. Sit on the left side for the best photos.
Lovely historic city with lots to explore. Recommend the Landeszeughaus (Armory) with all the suits of armor and weapons as well as Schloss Eggenberg, both for the park (beware the peacocks) and the state rooms. The Schlossberg is a must. Take the stairs or the foot path up then reward yourself with the cool interior slide back down.
The Kunsthaus can be hit or miss since it doesn’t have permanent exhibits. So check what’s currently there before you buy tickets - it’s a bit pricey.
Great authentic Styrian food in Franziskanerstraße and also just on the opposite side of the Mur.
We stayed in a lovely little apartment near the stadium and only two blocks from the tram stop and a grocery. Perfect for travelers who like to see how the locals live.

Interesting place structurally and as a space. What you are meant to do inside is a question I could not fathom . Modernistic some modern art installations.
