For me, a statue has to be either very good or very special to enthuse me, and this was not it. I guess there is a good story behind it (we didn't hear it); that can make it more appealing. You will probably pass it walking through the city.

It is said that this fellow is responsible for draining his keg onto the churches and townsfolk, thus creating Lake Wörthersee. Many will toss coins into the pond after a rub of his golden finger for luck.

Again for my family this was a one minute story and stop. We did walk by daily on our other adventures about this town. Very central and easy to find.

It is a nice sight, and fun to read and talk about. The fountain in front of it is closed in the winter, so we couldn't toss a coin in it, but it was still a nice sight.

Its nice to hear the sage of how did Lake Wörth came about. The statue is based of the Sage and as if tells you the story. We enjoyed the art of it, and other tourists like to stop there and hear the story, and throw some coins into the small pool. I think its a small peek into the... More

We did as obviously many people did. That is, taking fun photo's of the funny little man. I took one of my husband holding his umbrella over the figure, and he took me with my finger on its head and the other pointing upwards as many others have done as is obvious by tho the shiny head and hand

In the summer, if you toss a coin and make it to the pond, the legend said you were to come back here. I went in March and it was closed. I hope I get to come back here someday. Loved the city

An old cast bronze statue which is said to symbolize the original flooding of the Wörthersee (Lake Woerther). The little man is quoted as having called down a flood to punish those who had lost their way and wandered from the true path of God. The barrel beside him is the water outflow of the fountain. The man's head is... More

The Wörthersee is one of the finest lakes of Austria; Klagenfurt is situated on the east bank of this lake. This statuette symbolizes the legend of the origin of the Wörthersee lake. A short but sure stop for the tourist visiting Klagenfurt.
